After calling 111 I was advised to go to A&E for severe back pain. The lady on the phone told me to ask for somewhere to lay as the pain was that bad I couldn't sit down.
I arrived at the hospital to a queue in which I had to stand outside in for over 90 minutes in such excruciating pain I was crying.
Eventually I got to the reception and I couldn't even bend down to the microphone to tell the lady behind the desk what was wrong with me. She seemed very annoyed by this.
I informed her of my pain level and that I couldn't sit down and she shut me down and told me it was not the hospitals policy to allow people to lay down whilst they wait. I tried to explain that I couldn't sit and that the pain was becoming unbearable but she just told me to go sit.
I had to stand in the waiting area for another 2 hours crying. I went to the reception again during this time because I was feeling worse. They told me to sit down again even though I couldn't.
The patient before me had sandwiches and drinks there items were still there when I was I wasnt that bothered but they should have been cleared away
My daughter was admitted on her 3rd birthday the A&E nurses were amazing with her gave her a teddy bear and stickers. She then went on to rainbow ward where the nurse there gave her a present and a card very lovley staff.
I was triage at louth and sent through to grimsby as a level 2 VERY URGENT.
I arrived at Grimsby and left in line to queue outside the unit for over 30 minutes.
Once I got to booking in the receptionist read my letter I arrived with and sent me to sit in the waiting room cubicle. The cubicle was disgustingly dirty.
I sat in those conditions for over 2 hours while watching people coming and going with minor injuries or drunk being treated before myself who had chest pains and a query on an ecg. I had a stroke in October 2020 but where was the priority.
After 3 hours I could bear it no long and left with no answers and fearing the worse but not more so than staying in a place where I should of felt safe.
My mother is 94 she presented with a serious leg wound we had to wait an hour & 1/2 to register then after another 4 hours the blood was through the bandage it still took another 1/2 hour to re bandage & a further hour before seeing a dr
The main negative was having to wait outside in a corridor to get into the unit. I was there with my 10 year old so was very awkward to sit in 1 cubicle with her on 1 seat.
I Received great service from start to finish. I was seen to in a timely manner.
In January 2021 I was in B4 recovering from a complicated nephrectomy for renal cancer by urology consultant Mr Rogers and I had a very positive experience despite it being a difficult time for me and my family. The care from the doctors, nurses and support staff in theatre and on the wards was excellent. I felt safe and cared for. My family want to convey our gratitude and respect to the excellent local NHS service and especially the urology service. Thank you so much.
