After calling 111 I was advised to go to A&E for severe back pain. The lady on the phone told me to ask for somewhere to lay as the pain was that bad I couldn't sit down. I arrived at the hospital to a queue in which I had to stand outside in for over 90 minutes in such excruciating pain I was crying. Eventually I got to the reception and I couldn't even bend down to the microphone to tell the lady behind the desk what was wrong with me. She seemed very annoyed by this. I informed her of my pain level and that I couldn't sit down and she shut me down and told me it was not the hospitals policy to allow people to lay down whilst they wait. I tried to explain that I couldn't sit and that the pain was becoming unbearable but she just told me to go sit. I had to stand in the waiting area for another 2 hours crying. I went to the reception again during this time because I was feeling worse. They told me to sit down again even though I couldn't.

Suggested improvements
More compassion from the receptionist. I understand they are busy but I felt that they could have helped me more.
