This morning at 8:20am we attend a growth scan at antenatal clinic at Croydon university, I’m 32 weeks pregnant with my first baby after losses and failed IVF’s. The ultrasound scan was done by Michelle very moody and unapproachable sonographer. I work in healthcare myself and I know what it takes to be polite and compassionate to our patients, shame it doesn’t come naturally to this particular “professional”. My partner asked a simple question, where Michele with annoyance in her voice told us to allow her to do her job. Totally get it, questions after ! But there are ways to respond to patients and not to bring the bad attitude to the room. Very bitter experience and totally unwarranted. I felt so uncomfortable and quite upset by the reaction of this particular clinician. I was treated badly after my first miscarriage at the same hospital, but didn’t say a word but it got too much to bare now and I think management should be aware of instances like that , because mothers are vulnerable and they need to be treated with respect and compassion. Michelle, revisit this morning and see what could have gone better, - answer that to yourself.

I attended Croydon hospital A&E yesterday morning, after suffering with severe abdominal pain. I was assessed quickly, had observations taken, blood tests taken and then had a prompt review by a doctor. It was very busy, and I knew that I was well enough to wait and felt safe that if I needed to call for help, the staff would have been responsive. I then was referred to a fabulous Surgical doctor, called Dr Evie Marshall, who was professional, succinct and very kind. She made her assessment and discharged me with clear advice to return if my symptoms worsened. And then I was booked in for an urgent ultrasound, for the next day. This was all coordinated on a weekend. I had the ultrasound and then was reviewed again by Dr Marshall and given a clear plan. Luckily my pain had improved and I did not need an urgent operation. It was great to be seen and receive clear advice, which alleviated my worry and made me feel very safe. Thank you Croydon hospital.

I came into the hospital due to ankle fracture after a terrible fall on a icy road. FYI Croydon Council really need to get thier act together and grit all the key roads! After being seen by A&E, I had an ORIF surgery and for the whole ordeal, the hospital staff were overwhelmingly supportive and attentive to my needs and wellbeing. I'm grateful for thier selfless acts of service and I must extend too my appreciation with the NEPT service; who kindly had Keith and Karen transport me back home after discharge.

I would like to say how good all the staff & nurses were in looking after me the two times I was recently in hospital.

I visited an A&E this morning, and I would like to say a huge thank you to Nurse Practitioner Jackie Clark, who took great care of me. I stepped on a rusty nail and needed an X-ray. She was incredibly kind and professional. I felt truly cared for. Thank you for everything.

I’d like to take a moment to personally and publicly thank Jennifer N. A few days ago, I sustained an eye injury while in the city, and Jennifer’s response was nothing short of exceptional. Her empathy, professionalism, and genuine concern went above and beyond anything I expected. Thanks to her, I received the care I needed and avoided any lasting issues with my vision. Jennifer is a top-tier example of someone truly committed to helping others. Her calm demeanour, quick thinking, and dedication deserve to be recognized and celebrated. We need more people like her in this world, and I sincerely hope her outstanding work doesn’t go unnoticed.

Children's A & E and Rainbow Unit were brilliant for treating our 2 year old daughter. we were seen quickly and a plan put in place in A & E. We were then admitted to Rainbow Unit for monitoring overnight, unfortunately our daughter did not improve and we ended up in hospital for 4 days. The quality of care given to her has been amazing - we are so thankful for you all who cared for her and listened to us too. Thank you to Dr Melissa, Dr Amy, Dr Soni, Dr Mani, Dr Whittaker & Dr Neesha. These nurses were amazing at keeping our daughter happy through all of this and caring for her too - Sophie P, Ellie, Issy and Pauline. She was quite a difficult patient at times so thank you!

I was burnt by boiling water when my hot water bottle split on Tuesday 19th November 2024. I called 999 and an ambulance was sent to my house within 30 minutes. The paramedics were very helpful, provided me with the initial triage care with some gel to subdue the burns. I received burns to the top of both legs and a more serious burn to my left hand. The male gave treatment calmly with some jokes to ease the situation. Not to mention while I was waiting for them to come (in panic as I was at home alone) someone phoned to give me some advice and to give me company whilst waiting for the Ambulance. I was taken to the A&Emergency Department of Croydon University Hospital on Mayday Road at around 12pm. I waited for a while before being assessed by Cynthia. She calmly and kindly spoke to me and gave treatment to me with great sympathy. I was later sent home with some painkillers. Cynthia gave me lots of sensible advice and realistic timelines as to what to expect for the healing of my injuries. She treated me again on Thursday and Saturday, again with great professionalism. The following week I was treated by Becky, who had all the information on my burns from Cynthia and again I received great care from her all with sympathy and understanding. I was also seen by Dr Kim Loong Tan, who also gave treatment for the burns. He listened to my extra issues and changed the medication accordingly. Finally, Kevan who treated me on Friday 29th November was so happy to see the positive progress of the skin injuries and carried out the treatment with lots of care and was clearly pleased I was recovering well. He called Cynthia and Becky in to show them the progress helped by their professional attention. I could see how they all looked so pleased for me which made me happy about my recovery. I am now in the care of my local Medi Centre. This whole episode has knocked me but I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for all the care and service I received from Croydon University Hospital A&E. I could see the huge workload by the amount of waiting patients in the waiting area that your staff have to deal with every time I was there, but I always saw staff with a calm and kind attitude. I am sure that without the care and attention of those who treated me I would be struggling with my physical and mental wellness so I am greatly humbled by the care given not just to me but to so many people in need of it.

So shocked that a small minority of staff at the Endoscopy Unit were so RUDE - even though most of them were standing around without much work to do - the consultant was so RUDE - I had to tell the polite staff directly - that it is unacceptable. The staff in the Endoscopy theatre were lovely unfortunately let down by the head - who was not in the theatre. I WOULD REFUSE TO GO BACK TO UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL.
