Surgeon Mr Russo and his team and assistants were great. I am so greatful to them. I would recommend them to everyone. However, discharge summary was the worst I have ever seen and did not contain any instructions for the GP and in particular for pain management.
During admission there were times when I would have welcome to speak with a doctor about some concerns I was having but it seemed very difficult to get hold of one and they were in a rush and not with a very listening attitude.
Self-explanatory!
When booking the procedure, we specified a particular Doctor. We received all the documents to confirm this particular Dr was assigned, but when calling to go through the pre op, the nurse mentioned she wasn't sure it would be that Dr and she would have to let us know (and then we were never given a call back to confirm).
I had to call several times to confirm the bowel prep as the confirmation document explained 1 thing in regards to when to stop eating and the bowel prep doc said another. Getting through to the correct department for this query was a nightmare every time. You call the switchboard and they don't have a clue.
Following this procedure, we were told there was no Doctor on file and were given the name of someone we had never heard of so that we could confirm our results would be sent there. It was my Cleveland Clinic Doctor that transferred me for this procedure! The administration is quite shocking, not the first time we have had administration issues with The Cleveland.
Administration processes and communication need to be seriously reviewed for patient journey.
Very approachable nurses
I really do not think I can say enough on the care help and support that I was given from all members of staff from household services, porters, nurses and doctors. I was so happy there and felt completely safe and secure knowing I was being taken care of on every level of care. All the staff were polite, caring and respectful at all times.
I felt in good professional hands.
