I received an excellent service from my Doctor and Nurses througout my procedure
Dr Murray and his team were excellent
Very professionally run with extremely kind people
The facilities were great, the accommodations were great, and my surgeon was great.
Charlie Murray is a superb endoscopist - despite light sedation I didn't feel a thing and it was very quick.
As above Dr Murray's skill
The care given at the hospital was good. The administration process ahead of the appointment was poor.
I had a call 24hrs before the operation informing me I shouldn’t eat or drink for 48hrs beforehand. I explained I was due to arrive the following day & also questioned whether having no fluids was correct. After a few phone calls I was told I could have sips of clear fluids only. On meeting with the anaesthetist I was told I could even have had a light breakfast on the day of the operation. As I couldn’t eat after the operation it meant I hadn’t eaten for 48hrs, which made me feel very weak.
What I assume was the administration team also rang me a number of times and asked the same questions. These questions seemed very unstructured & random.
None of the calls were at the time the pre-op had been arranged.
There was also considerable confusion over what time I should have arrived at the hospital. I was told to arrive at 1pm for the operation at 2.30pm. Later the nurse said they had been expecting me at 10am.
Staff shortages at the hospital didn’t help build my confidence. Even in theatre the surgeon had to look for the items he needed as staff from other departments didn’t know where to find them.
From reception, where I was treated as if in a 5star hotel, to the 2 nurses, to Dr. Gavin Johnson I felt totally confident that I was in excellent hands.
Overall care, attention, diligence and frequency of medical services were excellent.
The coordination between different teams eg physio, phlebotomy etc were well managed.
