I hope by leaving a review here, it will be passed on/shared to those involved. I was admitted to the Leyland Ward CDH for a Full Knee Replacement, Wednesday 27th, August 2025 under consultant Mr R Bodes & his surgical team. From my first meeting with the Anaesthetics team, you are put at ease straight away. Their friendly chat & good banter is a good start. I have to admit I was dreading the epidural as this can be very uncomfortable however, I was in the hands of 'The Boss' & wow, his treatment was second to none & as for pain, none. Sorry, I don't have his name but I can assure you he & his team were superb, able to have a laugh with them just makes the whole procedure a lot easier. As for Consultant Surgeon, Mr Boden & his team you seriously could not wish for anyone better, attention to detail & especially the way he communicates with you before & after surgery, even at his clinic you leave his company with a smile & everything has been explained to you in a tone/language you fully understand making you feel totally at ease. You must not forget the recovery team & the Physio team who also do a remarkable job. Forgive me if I have it wrong, Jenna/Gemma who was looking after me with my early stages of physio, just brilliant. Listen to her, as she know what she is talking about. Domestics, catering, great food & the Portering Staff, special shout out to Mr Phil Bent. Everyone concerned, please take a bow. Thank you one & all. CS

My wife had a fall down some concrete steps ,in a local park falling onto a concrete path injuring her face and breaking her wrist. We called for a Ambulance which arrived within fifteen minutes. The Crew gave my wife treatment in the Ambulance then Transported Heather to Chorley A and E .The treatment and quality of care was First Class from entering the Ambulance to leaving A and E .Heather was treated with respect and kept fully in formed of the treatment she would receive. The staff were totally professional throughout. The cubicle was spotless the porter friendly and respectful.Along with the Nurses and Doctors. To say the treatment we received was World Class is not exaggerating.

The treatment I received from the staff in SECU was amazing. They were kind and very helpful. They truly care about you and I was looked after very well. This was a lovely unit to be on. The problem came when I had to go on Leyland Ward for the Friday night. There was a senior staff member who was rude and her attitude stinks. This was all because I couldn’t go home as I couldn’t do stairs so she wasn’t happy about me having to go on her ward. This particular member of staff made an already traumatic experience worse, I had had two spinal surgeries over the course of three days by making snide, horrible comments which included “don’t worry she will be gone tomorrow no matter what”, “comments about how both I and another patient were referred in and how she didn’t see why they should accept out of area patients” I didn’t live in the Chorley area but in Manchester area along with other nasty remarks and she made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe whilst she was on shift. It was a shame as the rest of the staff were lovely and caring nurses etc. I myself work for the NHS and would never treat any patient the way she did and even if these were her opinions etc she needs to keep them to herself and not say them at all especially around patients.

Visited eye centre today at Chorley hospital and again, had a great experience. They make you feel like you matter, are kind, compassionate and always available with a smile to listen if you are worried. I have , unfortunately, needed healthcare from many places in the past and on many occasions have been disappointed in the care and treatment I received. Chorley eye centre is in a league of its own, you are doing a fantastic job. Thank you.

The ward toilet in bay was busy with other patient. Have bowel disease and when I need it, I need it. Went to nurse station and asked in desperation where another toilet was, they said they didn’t have one. I explained my desperation and showed my cancer toilet, urgent card and she said I couldn’t use any others because they were either women’s bays or private rooms. She told me I should use a commode, however, she never got up to get me one and carried on sitting at the station. I ran out of the ward, down the corridor, down the steps and into the public toilet at the entrance - sadly, I never made it in time. I was in hospital for pneumonia and breathing difficulty and that run nearly finished me off. When I arrived back a on the ward. I told her how unhelpful and insensitive I thought she was. Her response, “ if you talk to me like that I will call security and have you removed” . The following night I wanted to get the attention of a nurse as my iv cannula was red hot, hard and sore so I asked the nurse doing the drug round what her name was so that I knew who I was asking for - she said ‘ I have already told you”. I said I can’t hear very well as I have poor hearing her reply “well, you were not listening then”. She then walked off without telling me her name. She never did look at the cannula or change it. Antibiotics were never given on time, buzzers were left buzzing in the early hours of the morning. Pain medications were given late to other sick patients. They just left people in pain and distressed. The strange thing was the sister on that night barely moved from the nurses station. An eye opener and utterly shocking and I’ve never felt so vulnerable and unsafe in my entire life. On a positive note the doctors were great, sensitive and explained things clearly.

Had a horrendous experience. My meeting with a consultant was awful. Firstly, despite meeting very vulnerable patients like myself she did not wear a mask. At this time, mask wearing was legally enforceable and she was the only person in the whole department not wearing one. Secondly she was very rude and aggressive and really upset me.

The staff were great and always checking up on the patients to make sure everyone was OK. This put me at ease and helped with the whole process. Many thanks.

Firstly, parking at this hospital is a joke. Good luck ever getting a space. Secondly, the staff are rude and clearly lacking soft skills. Thirdly, the blood clinic is always and I mean always overpopulated. There is designated social distanced seating outside yet you're told it can't be used as it's "unsafe" and "can you come back later?" Yes because I've got nothing better to do that spend hours in a day visiting this hospital with zero guarantee of blood being taken. Why on earth it's classed as a free for all instead of a small appointment slot makes no sense whatsoever, I guess that's a bit too cutting edge and radical for Chorley Hospital. I mean, could you imagine the idea of a booking process? Blows my mind. How is it unsafe to stand in a corridor metres away from anyone else? Clearly the staff here aren't comfortable with how clean the hospital is. This isn't the first problem i've had here, in fact every time I visit the experience is appalling without fail. If you can, avoid if at all possible, you'll thank me for it.
