I had major surgery on 15th Jan. The hospital sent a letter to the practice stating I needed my staples removed on 22nd Jan. The surgery did not make me appointment for that date and when I called I was told I’d have to wait until the Thursday (4 days) for an appointment with the nurse. I had to take this appointment of course. When I did see the practice nurse, she tore the skin ( twisted staple- not her fault of course) but patched it up and said she’d see me on Saturday to check it had healed. When I showered later that day, I noticed 3 staples had been missed. Luckily I knew I was seeing the nurse on Saturday… however it has now been cancelled! Pretty disappointing.

Ensure when the hospital requests an appointment, it is followed through. Aim to keep appointments.

Can take a long time. Long telephone queues.

Walking in and having the receptionist smile was not only a complete surprise, but a breath of fresh air. Ive never hapoened before in 8 years. Normally you get rude, unresponsive receptionists who don't want you there. What a lovley lady. To top things off Debbie the nurse was amazing. Polite, took her time and made me feel as if she cared about my health. Past nurses inturpted you mid sentence making it clear that i must go tell someone who cares, because they dont.

Just quite hard to get a face to face when you want to talk about an on going problem, without going throgh triage, though i must say if you go into collington surgery the ladies are absolutely great always try and help if they can

Once through on phone to the surgery service was good and dealt with my problem efficiently. I did have to wait in queue to speak to reception, I was 11th in queue. The day before when I phoned the triage was already closed.

I am not sure how to improve if doctors all booked. Perhaps have one doctor dealing with simple appointments but not sure how this would work.
