Try to book on nhs app - only telephone appointments and week(s) in advance. A while ago my husband had worries about his pacemaker on a Friday, phoned surgery during opening hours - no doctors available as they had no appointments booked so they went home.

A GP should have been available until surgery closing time

Appointment system is abysmal 20 minutes plus waiting to be told no appointment,needs a radical overhaul,What happened to Doctor Patient confidentiality I for one am not going to discuss my personal medical requirements with a receptionist.

Can wait on the phone for up to half an hour to even get through to the receptionist

I was initially told by the receptionist that my blood results were fine and reluctant to give me a consultation with a GP After insisting to speak to GP he advised me I needed further changes to treatment as blood results were out of range Therefore receptionists should not be advising on medical issues
