I rang the surgery at 8.30 expecting a queue but was pleasantly surprised. Explained I would like to talk to a doctor who rang me back that morning. Very happy with how things went today

Suggested improvements
Everything ok was not kept hanging online. The doctor I spoke to put my mind at rest and gave me things to try

Nurse Practitioner always able to book next appointment for change of wound dressing. Far easier than trying to telephone for an appointment, where queues are often unacceptable and receptionists are understandably stressed.

Suggested improvements
Automatic booking in system works well and avoids need to wait for receptionist.

Getting an appointment is now unacceptably difficult. After a lifetime of paying to support the national health service it should be easy and straight forward. It is not.

Suggested improvements
It's not what the surgery should have done, it's what the government should have done over many years.

Spent ages waiting for my turn in the queue. When the receptionist finally answered I had to explain my symptoms and told her I had taken a Covid test and was negative. I was asked to wait whilst she spoke to a practitioner. Eventually after 2-3 mins she returned to the phone and said a practitioner would phone me when they were available. A while later I received a call and I had to re-explain my symptoms. I was asked a few questions and then the practitioner advised me to see a pharmacist and get some relief. I pointed out I had already bought some medicine and it did not seem to make much difference. The practitioner told me if I talk to a pharmacist they can give me the best treatment. This whole episode took in excess of 10 mins

Suggested improvements
1. Cut out the wait between receptionist and practitioner. 2. Actually spend the wasted 10 mins by offering an appointment so that a qualified diagnosis. 3. For more clarity let the patient see a qualified doctor. 4. After assessing the patient generate a prescription rather than insisting older people now get medication OTC. 5. Your question below highlights the ageist element of the system in the NHS
