Really like the appointment system, although originally not too pleased at having to return, it did mean I could get on with my day with very little time at the hospital. I was seen soon after I arrived for my appointment, had an x-ray & given advice. Excellent service with helpful & friendly staff

Suggested improvements
It’s an excellent service, but would be better having x-ray available evenings & weekends

Review of MSK Physiotherapy - WBCH
19th September 2024

We have been approached by the pediatrician and asked us why we had to attend the consultation! We explained our main concern with our little one that he has not gained any weight since 9 months ago and we are worried. We explained that a month ago we have been to a private hospital in UK and abroad and done allergy testing as our little one had an concerning allergy episode in May 2024. The pediatrician he told us straight that he is not interested at all in any of the allergy tests our little one has done so far. She has tried to see the weight history in NHS system but she failed! Asking us if we have a record of his weight. Which we did and we passed the information to her. Overall the pediatrician did not behaved like a professional doctor and she was more interested on how to end the visit after 10 minutes in the consultation. The nurse that also attended our pediatrician visit behaved more professional and she was more interested in the data we could provide for them to asses the child. The nurse had taken the weight and measures of the child however when we told her the child has fever she told us she does not have a termometer to record that! In the end pediatrician agreed for us to email her the documents and data we have on our child and she told us we will receive an answer in 4 months time!!! The management of West Berkshire hospitals they need to get more involved in training the staff to be empathic with the patients and make sure that for an appointment that has been requested 6 months ago by a GP, and we have been kind and waited for it, to only have 30 minutes for a health check and for a pediatrician to absorb all the information it is presented to him/her it is quite absurd! It does not end well for the patient neither for the family of the patient since we have to allocate time and money to attend the visit leaving disappointed that we have waited and wasted resources to solve a health problem.

Suggested improvements
We have been told that the appointment would be in Reading Hospital and we should prepare the child for a long day visit. Ending up in Thatcham hospital in a 20 minutes long visit with one pediatrician checking that the child has any exema or spots on the skin! And telling us the child is fine after her not being able to pull any growth charts of the child from the NHS system. It clearly showed that the pediatrician was not interested in the child health issues and she was more interested to get end her shift. Appalling attitude!

[name removed] was very professional, I was treated very swiftly and given advice to take away

Suggested improvements
Was triaged by own gp, through Anima. Just a shame 111 does not get the triage results from gp, had to go through all the questions again before being offered an appointment.
