The staff at St. Luke’s go above and beyond. They go out of their way to make the patients and families comfortable.

Review of St Luke’s Turnchapel EoL Urgent Care
31st May 2024

I cannot praise the St Luke's team of nurses who cared for my father in the final stages of his cancer illness highly enough. People often talk about nurses being angels. After the care, dignity and respect my family was shown at such a difficult time, I now know it's true. I genuinely don't know how we would have coped if it hadn't been for the amazing team. We called them to the house when my mother was at breaking point, trying to look after Dad's care by herself, and the difference the nurses made is indescribable. The moment they arrived, gave Mum a big hug and told her everything was going to be okay, everything changed. Nothing was going to save Dad, but his last days at least were comfortable, clean and as dignified as I could have wished. The nurses - I wish I could name them all, they were so good without fail - were wonderful with him. My Dad was a proud man who never liked to make a fuss, and at every stage he was treated with respect, dignity and compassion. But it's not just about the patient. I'll never forget the support they offered Mum and the rest of the family, with their gentle manner and kind words, let alone all the actual nursing they did with Dad. When Dad passed we actually really missed seeing them too. It's proof, in my mind, that in divisive times, there are some wonderful people in the world. When you meet a St Luke's nurse at home at a time of personal tragedy, it's a great reminder of the compassion and care of humanity. Thank you to every single one of you. You were amazing.

My mother is at EOL. We had the paramedics in an emergency situation who got us referred to St Lukes for support. The in case medical kit that they needed us to get and retain at home for her last few hrs of life was missing a medication.the pharamacist confirmed that i was unlikely to get the drug and only St Lukes carry it.St Lukes refused the referal saying they only normally take on cancer patients and left us with the advice to call 111 when things progressed.the trauma my family feel is unspeakable.knowing that my mum whos unable to communicate fell 12 months ago and we had no idea of injuries decided it would be 48 hrs before the paramedics could get there and would we mind lifting her to bed in the meantime.the system is broken and there is no humanity.
