Review of Emergency Care Centre SGH
27th May 2023

The staff were very kind, caring and professional despite the chaos of why I was there - very impressed with the new unit.

Suggested improvements
signage for the unit could be better as when leaving, a Dr thought we were just wandering so rightfully challenged us but we were just lost!

Review of Emergency Care Centre SGH
26th May 2023

I was given a wrongly written prescription with a child who was 5 days post op spiking a temperature for antibiotics as she had a suspected infection. when I got to pharmacy they informed me they didn’t have the antibiotics not to mention it was wrongly dosed! I was told I had to go back to A&E with a sick child when I’d already waited hours ! By this point she was spiking a temp again I went to the children’s ward where we were originally suppose to go however we hadn’t be informed of the admission by A&E who just put us in a waiting room to wait to see a GP when we’d just come from a GP ! The nurses told me they couldn’t help and to go back to A&E so I dragged my sick 5 ye old back to A&E where I had to cry at the nurse I’m charge to get the prescription corrected. They even suggested giving her a different antibiotic which was penicillin based when she’s allergic to penicillin ! I managed to locate a bottle of the antibiotic she needed I got a green prescription from a kind doctor who took pitty on us. I then drove an hour out of county to collect the antibiotics. I thought they way we were treated was appalling.

Suggested improvements
The actual peads doctor was lovely however the way it was handled after the entities assessment was terrible.

Review of Emergency Care Centre SGH

Attended SGH at around 9:30pm. Saw triage nurse within 10/15 mins and was informed I would be seeing the nurse practitioner and wouldn’t be too long. Very happy with this part of the care service. 12:30am came and still not seen the nurse. Queried with the receptionist and she informed me there was 2 people before me and then I would be seeing the doctor. After informing her I was told I’d be seeing the nurse practitioner, she then told me that the nurse practitioner finished her shift at 10pm. If I’d have known this I wouldn’t have waited around and wasted mine and the doctors time and gone home to patch myself up. Communication was very poor.

Suggested improvements
Inform me either in my nurse triage appointment or when the nurse has finished that the nurse would be finishing soon, allowing me as the patient to make a decision on if I would be willing to wait or sort myself elsewhere.
