I would have no hesitation in recommending this hospital to anybody. The staff were amazing and put me at ease from the moment i was admitted. Nothing was too much trouble and they showed great care and attention to detail. I was very nervous about going into hospital and having my operation but I had no need to be. Thank you to all staff involved.
All the staff made my stay as relaxed and pleasant as possible
My experience at the Duchy hospital was excellent. The staff were fantastic and dedicated to the patients in their care.
The hospital environment was clean with good facilities. The food was good and nutritious. The staff were caring and sympathetic and always on standby day or night, ready to deal with problems or trauma following an operation.
I am extremely impressed with the Duchy as a whole and all the care I recieved from all the staff.
Ihave been treated in duchy unfortunatly not by mr norton. But the doctors i have had there were outstanding, the hospital is far by the best in cornwall and if i ever am allowed a choice i would always choose the duchy. St micheals a second. The duchy is always clean, the staff are always polite and ready to help no matter what day they are having.
staff were friendly, efficient and professional. Toilets could have been cleaner, ie lots of paper towels and toilet paper on the floor but it was busy.
I found the six week post op appointment reassuring. I had been forewarned that some swelling was likely, but was worried by the extent and discomfort caused. Mr Norton was clear in that he considered blood thinners to be the cause, especially due to the triple dose administered by my GP when DVT was a concern. Thankfully negative! Mr Norton's explanation gave me the confidence to dispose of crutches and exercise as much as possible. Swelling remains extreme but slowly diminishing. The appointment was not rushed, questions answered in clear and concise language. Most importantly, the hip replacement went well and I thank Mr Norton, his team and the nurses for their care.
I was satisfied with all that happened to me in the Duchy. This was my first stay in hospital and although only there for two nights, experienced the care and consideration of all the patients on my ward.
I was very happy with the care that I received at the Duchy Hospital, although there are two aspects upon which I would make a comment:-
Car parking - From my last visit I am aware that action has now been taken to address the lack of available spaces, and hope these measures are successful. Prior to this there was a real shortage of available spaces much of which, I understand, was due to parking by people not attending the hospital.
Reception - the reception desk is immediately beside the main doors, and the area is quite restricted. When busy, and others are waiting for transport etc. it can become quite congested. Sadly, constraints in the amount of available space probably mean that no short-term solution could be easily implemented.
Great hospital to be treated before and after operation
Outstanding care throughout made my stay easy. I believe this was the reason for the excellent outcome and quick healing after my operation.
