Review of Emergency Care Centre DPOW
1st July 2021

The A&E department was overwhelmed which led to about 5 1/2 hours there with approximately 20 minutes in front of a healthcare professional. I spent approximately 1 hour waiting stood up in a queue before getting to the receptionist. All of the time I was there, every member of staff was polite and professional.

Suggested improvements
I think if this is usual, there should be some chairs and some protection from the weather. Something that should be done but is out of your control is to encourage GP’s to see patients to alleviate the strain on your service. I was advised to visit A&E by my GP. I believe that I could have been treated more efficiently in my GP practice.

Review of Honeysuckle Ward
1st July 2021

Chloe and Claire were very kind and encouraging during labour. Jeanette(I think) booked me in, just before her shift ended and was very good too. The room was not set up ready for labour though, there was no trolley with the supplies they needed so they had to keep going to look for things. Also, my partner had to put the kettle on a chair, until a table was brought through from the reception area I believe. I had no issues with the staff, they were all fab, but having the room organised would have been nice! At my community appointments before labour, Karen and Zoe were very helpful.

Suggested improvements
Prepared the room with everything required so it was to hand.

The staff were very busy but I noticed they all kept calm and ensured each patient had enough time to be looked after, no panicking about how busy they were. Very friendly and caring.

Suggested improvements
The waiting room is quite small so you have to queue outside which is hard when you aren’t well. This is due to Ongoing works so will improve once completed and due to social distancing

Review of Antenatal Ultrasound Scan Department DPOW
30th June 2021

We had a lovely midwife who was so caring and patient with us. She reassured us of all our concerns and happily answered all of our questions. We could not have asked for better service from the midwife (Patricia) on our visit.

Suggested improvements
Nothing.

The nursing staff here were excellent. Seemed very genuine and i was looked after. My problem is that i wasn't listened to. I came to the A&E department in extreme lower back pain to where i needed a wheel chair to make it into the reception. I had an emergency scan at Hull the day before which made it much worse hence my journey to A&E. I told the doctor that something had changed to my back and that I was in extreme pain. Also my right leg was losing strength and going numb. All he did was prescribe me pain relief and sent me home. I asked him if he could look into my scan or contact the dr in charge of my case in hull and he said they do not have access to other hospitals medical records. It now turns out 5 days later still in absolute agony that i need emergency surgery. I really feel i was just pushed aside and ignored. My issue should have been investigated further. I will be making an official complaint. I would be grateful if someone could contact me regarding this issue.

Suggested improvements
The doctor should have listened to my concern as it turns out i need emergency surgery.
