Expert care given with kindness and great skill. Thank you.
The empathy shown to my mum and us as a family was really good.
The nurses were all extremely helpful and compassionate they cared for the family as well as the patient. One in particular Helen was wonderful on one afternoon she did everything she could to help the patient and stayed an hour past hr finishing time, contacting Millbrook and the Dr she was amazing.
Knowledgeable staff prepared to give time.
Initially sorting out referral was hand, no one seemed to wait to do it, especially NGH breast care nurses- I said no services locally. GP nurse finally sorted it out.
Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that the referral process was difficult, unfortunately this is not something we have any control over. GP's and the local hospital teams are fully aware as to how to refer to the Lymphoedema service.
How friendly and caring the staff are.
Please be aware this review would have been written in 2016 had I been aware of this site
I have read the other reviews on this page and struggle to recognise it as the same hospice. My father passed away a few days after arrival at the hospice but over those days if it hadn't been for myself and other family members caring for my father it disturbs me deeply to think of the discomfort and suffering he would have experienced at the end of his life. There seemed a general lack of staff as commented on by my Mother when she asked if they were short staffed. There was no one to one care given at any point. Our family had to stay with my father overnight due to him vomiting to ensure he didn't choke as there was no one else looking after him other than infrequent checks every few hours during the night (he was unable to move by this time). Oral care that should have been regularly given wasn't at all, this was commented on several times to doctors and nurses but nothing was done.
I would not recommend Cynthia Spencer to any family or friends after this experience
Thank you for your feedback, and I am sorry to hear about your families experience of the hospice in 2016. If you would like to discuss this further please contact Richard Glasspool, Service Manager, Specialist Palliative Care 01604 678033.
The team you sent us were very kind and friendly. Please don't change these people. They are doing a great job.
Hospice at home provided nurses to our home whilst I was caring for my father for a brief period (he was only at home for 10 days before he passed away). The nurses did not just provide care to my father, but to myself and mother in understanding the situation we were in, the likely process at the end excellent general conversational support.
I really couldn't have asked for anything more. The whole experience was a pleasure despite the difficult circumstances of my illness.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
