I was accepted as an emergency on Mr. Desai's waiting list for shoulder surgery. Despite the serious situation in respect to Covid-19, the orthopaedic team which he leads, continued to deliver treatment. In just a few weeks I received a telephone call advising me of a surgery slot that had become available. I wasn't aware that surgery was being carried out on a Saturday and from being admitted at 7.30am and greeted by the nursing staff and equally looked after by all the team on the ward and in theatre. The operation and continued first class care by Mr. Desai and the whole team went very smoothly. Post-operative stitches were removed after 10 days and physiotherapy continued the care with appointments. A care plan was drawn up and eventually strengthening exercises were gradually introduced. I am continuing with the above and gradually seeing more and more improvements. Thank-you for your treatment - we really all should be grateful for our NHS.

After many months of constant pain I was referred for a scan on my right shoulder , the scan revealed I had a massive rotator cuff tear and the tendons that where remaining where hanging by a thread . I was placed under the care of Mr Desai and his team, all of which where excellent, Mr Desai explained the procedure , recovery expectations and the possible side effects (of which non have materialised) . I had the operation at Grimsby hospital , Mr Desai had a chat prior to the operation and I’m pleased to say all went as he and myself where hoping . I’m now 3 months down the road , my strength is gradually returning but I was told that this would take quite some time and movement is improved beyond expectation and although still one or two twinges now and then (again to be expected ) I’m now pain free . I have now been discharged from Mr Desai’s care . Thank you Mr Desai and your team , couldn’t fault , excellent.

Having undergone major life changing spinal surgery which left me permenently disabled - I experienced a complication in my shoulder due to excessive use of crutches. Mr Desai saw me in clinic and understood fully how this shoulder injury affected my mobility and independence. Following surgery to correct the problem Mr Desai took time and effort to support me. Prior to the proceedure I was reliant fully on wheelchair use. Mr Desai has given me my independence back in a professional caring approach.
