I was referred to Psychiatry Uk for an ADHD diagnosis on the ‘right to choose’ pathway. I was rather nervous of the idea of a remote service before I started as a patient but the experience has been incredibly positive. Life changing! I had a few months wait for the initial meeting with the psychiatrist for the diagnosis but this is way shorter than the wait by other routes at the moment. The preparation for the appointment was thorough and through a secure portal with additional identification requirements so I felt my information was very secure. The diagnosis appointment was via a zoom or similar online appointment and was very thorough. I didn’t feel rushed. Then I had a few months wait for titration to begin. I didn’t mind this as I am still getting my head around my diagnosis and I wasn’t at all sure about taking the medication route so the time was a help. I began titration with a nurse, all through case notes and forms. This I was very skeptical of working but Psychiatry UK have it down. The system works. I had a great nurse who was very supportive and great at reminders if I forgot a form etc-ADHD brain…- and I felt safe. The first medication I tried was not good for me and this was spotted by my titration specialist and changed very quickly. I had the medicine delivered to my door in a very safe manner. I am now finishing my titration and being referred back to psychiatrist for the end of the process. I sometimes feel calm. For the first time in my nearly 50 years. I am so grateful for this service. Truly life changing.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review, which is not only useful for us to read, but I'm sure will be helpful for patients who are new or considering whether to use our service. It can be daunting for some people to use an online service, but it's really reassuring to hear that you have found our processes secure, easy-to-navigate and neurodivergent-friendly. We are especially pleased to learn that you now feel settled on medication, and ready to move forward. Thank you again for recommending Psychiatry-UK.

I’ve had some really off putting and demoralising experiences discussing mental health with my GP, particularly as a woman - which led me to use the right to choose option and seek help from Psychiatry-UK. They have just been a totally different experience, kind, considerate and patient - I felt listened to and understood for the first time ever. It’s not overstated to say that my experience with them has changed my life. I’m really grateful.

My psychiatrist was Dr. Ezra Loh, along with other fantastic doctors/specialists, who helped me reach a diagnosis for my autism and ADHD. They were all so kind and compassionate. I am so grateful to have had such a good experience after feeling so lost all of my life. I would especially like to mention my prescriber, Janet Graham. They were SO kind and approachable, I really felt like I was being looked after by a friend. It is hard to get help for complex problems like neuro divergency on the NHS, but i truly think that psychUK are doing so much for the community! I hope everyone can have a similar experience like mine:)

I can’t recommend PsychiatryUK enough. From start to finish, they’ve been so supportive. Particularly my titration nurse, Helen, who has been a god send. She’s been so patient with me, supporting me find the right meds, and being warm and understanding when I was having some anxiety. I went to PsyUK through the NHS right to choose, I highly recommend this path.

I have been with Psychiatry UK since October, when I had my ADHD assessment with Dr Balu Pitchiah, who was brilliant during the assessment and was very quick to answer my messages after my assessment. Dr Soumaya Nasser El Din recently assessed me for ASD and she was also brilliant- she was very kind, friendly, and attentive during the appointment. She had clearly read my (very long and detailed, unfortunately!) questionnaire answers, so knew all about me and didn't have to ask repeat questions. She really put me at ease during the appointment, which I had been very anxious about. Thank you Dr Soumaya :) I did have an issue with Psychiatry UK at one point because I was provided some conflicting information which caused some stress, but Allison Johnson at the Patient Experience team personally sorted it out for me and helped me so much. She has been very kind and understanding to me- thank you Allison! I have just started titration for ADHD medication, so will write a review for the ADHD team when that has finished. Many thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to feed back regarding your assessments. It is especially good to hear that you were able to provide detailed information via your questionnaires. Some of our patients struggle with these, but it is so important for your consultant to learn as much as they can about you prior to your assessment, as this allows more time during the session itself to discuss your experiences more fully and be able to form an accurate diagnosis. I have noted that you raised an issue with our Patient Experience Team, but am happy to learn that they were able to resolve this; I will pass on your feedback to Allison. I hope your titration goes smoothly, and that you manage to get settled on your medication quickly. it would be great to get your feedback again at the end of this period.

Nothing much more to add. I was referred here for Adult ADHD. I found Kath to be very attentive and she cared about how I was responding to my medication during titration.

I have received great care and have felt very comfortable with Dr Yann Welton (although I’m not sure he is listed on the staff page…). He was a great listener and I felt like I was being understood. I was however concerned I had to have two consultations and this put me on edge. Whilst the individuals that work for P-UK seem fantastic the operation behind it is weak. There is no continuity between the office staff and expected wait times. It feels like wait times are pulled out from the air at random. The online portal and communication is poorly designed for someone that is Neurotypical. The portal makes it impossible to have a normal conversation exchange with a single person. You end up essentially in a chat room with a load of random staff members. This means you can only ask one question at a time, and any question will be answered by someone totally different. As someone that struggles with some forms of communication I found this unpleasant. Whilst doing some digging I discovered P-UK seems to be heavily tied into “Software Solutions South West Ltd”. It’s fascinating that the director of this software company is also the CEO of P-UK and a Psychiatrist. I hoped that this would mean system would be designed well for the likely neurodivergence of the service users. Sadly I think the Right to Chose is meaning P-UK are taking perhaps a little more work than their systems and processes allow.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to feed back regarding your experience with Psychiatry-UK. Although we are not able to look into individual cases on this platform, I have passed on your comments regarding our communications processes and particularly your experience of our portal. Making our systems neurodivergent-friendly is a priority; I have therefore forwarded your feedback to our Patient Experience Team, who work closely with our IT Team to continuously update and improve our processes.
