Mr Akrawi operated on my knee and I am delighted with the care I received and the result of the surgery. In the initial meeting Mr Akrawi explained everything I needed to know with patience and a reassuring manner. He spoke to me after the operation and then came to see me the same evening informing me everything had gone well. This put my mind at rest. The follow-up meeting was very positive with viewings of X-rays before and after surgery, with explanations and descriptions of materials used. This instilled confidence in me for the procedure. I am very glad indeed to have my mobility back!

This surgeon has just transferred to Maidstone Kent and I am so glad he has, I was offered a short notice appointment for my knee operation with Mr Akrawi at Maidstone hospital, I accepted and so didn't meet him until the date of my surgery. Mr Akrawi spent time examining me and had clearly reviewed my notes and MRI, stating he thought there was a cyst on my cartilage, which had never been mentioned before. I felt reassured by Mr Akrawi's bedside manner and plain speaking explanation of what was going to happen. Following surgery Mr Akrawi came and explained to me all that he had done in surgery, he had been correct about the cyst and had removed this as well as the expected repair. He showed me all the before and after images from inside my knee and gave me clear directions on what I needed to do going forward and the realistic prospects in respect of recovery. I could not be more pleased with the quality of service given to me by Mr Akrawi and feel lucky to have had him complete my surgery.

Mr Hawar Akrawi is one of the best doctors we have ever seen, he listened to us and explained the whole process as to what he was going to do to my husband. When we went back for the following appointment he was excellent at explaining what he had done showing us pictures with a full explanation.. He is a genuine caring gentleman. Hawar provided a personal and caring approach to my surgery. This involved briefing me about the operation and breaking down my injury without the normal medical jargon. After the successful surgery we have had a couple of follow up sessions where he arrange for the relevant programmes of physiotherapy to aid my recovery.

Since Mr Akrawi is the first consultant surgeon I have encountered I was not sure what to expect. All I can say is that he has set the bar pretty high for any others in the future. He puts his patients at ease with his unhurried, caring manner and thorough explanations yet is completely professional and an excellent surgeon. I was fortunate that he was able to carry out both my knee replacements, the second just before he left RCHT. I cannot thank him enough - pain free after many years.
