Dr Kandikattu explained the procedure to me very well in advance and then again during each part of the injection sequence. He constantly checked how I was feeling and what level of pain I was feeling. I suppose the easiest way to sum up my feelings was that the whole visit made me feel like I was a valued individual, not one of several patients to be processed that day. NB: From the moment arriving at Stamford, to leaving as few hours later, I felt that I was exceptionally well treated. I suspect that the high standards and example that Dr Kandikattu sets are reciprocated by his team.

Dr Kandikattu was brilliant, he explained everything prior to the procedure and the potential benefits. Then during the procedure he talked me through every step and kept me calm. I am a very nervous patient and was having spinal nerve ablation and injections into my lower back muscles, I have a fear of needles so you can imagine how nervous I was but Dr Kandikattu was excellent in his approach and made the procedure a lot more tolerable than I ever expected. I can't sing Dr Kandikattu praises more, thank you.

I was referred to Dr Subhash Kandikattu from my Rheumatologist for Nerve Block Injections in both knees. On the 16th March 2021 was my appointment date and the day I met Dr Subhash Kandikattu doing the injections. He explained to me all that was going to happen during the procedure and where I would be having the injections in great detail. During the procedure he was very attentive and always checked with me first before continuing with anything to see if I was in any pain, if I was then he saw to it immediately. I could not have asked for better treatment. Its now a week since I had my procedure and my pain has improved greatly.

He’s a wonderful doctor with golden hands. Extremely skilled, kind, charming and the patient is reassured and feels that they are in safe hands. I have had 2 sets of injections with Dr Kandikattu and both have gone wonderfully.

Profile

Dr Kandikattu is one of the few pain medicine consultants in East Anglia to have gained certification in the Fellowship in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP). He uses the biopsychosocial model of pain to offer modern assessment and management of his patients’ pain at the Peterborough City & Stamford Hospital, Fitzwilliam and Boston West and Clementine Churchill Hospitals.

“Whilst doing my pain training at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital and Hillingdon Hospital, I was inspired by the pioneers in pain management there and I became keen to learn new techniques.”

“I am pleased to now be able to tutor students studying for their MSc in Regional Anaesthetics at the University of East Anglia and I hope that I can instil some of desire to embrace new and modern pain management techniques in these trainees.”

Dr Kandikattu offers comprehensive pain management to people suffering from chronic pain from their head to their toes including: cancer, musculoskeletal and spinal (neck, chest, lower back, sciatica), neuropathic, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic headaches and persistent post-surgical pain.

He performs a full range of pain interventions including epidurals, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency denervations, most of which are image-guided using x-ray or ultrasound guidance. He is also an expert in treating acute pain and inpatient pain management.

He offers outpatient appointments and inpatient care for pain management intervention at the Fitzwilliam and Boston West Hospitals. Patients struggling with chronic post-operative pain may need further pain management to relieve their discomfort and Dr Kandikattu can offer a back-up service for them too.

“I use this holistic model of approach for all my patients, taking all the biological, psychological and, social factors into account as each can impact on a patient’s pain. It’s important to treat patients as a whole.” said Dr Kandikattu.
