I attended Wycombe Hisputal Cardiac sept ward 4A today. Dr Mayooran Shanmuganathan was a Gentleman , he listened to me , spoke in a manner I could understand. He respected my age so I felt valued. The whole experience was very quick and pleasant . The Lady on the Cardiac reception was very welcoming and the music made a relaxing atmosphere. Thank you all so much.

My eldest son and daughter attended my appointment which was within a week of having the echocardiogram. We all had a sense of relief and confidence when we met Dr Shanmuganathan. He was very honest and came straight to the point about my cardiac failure and explained the course of action that should be taken. It was a shock but we all have confidence in his expertise and care in this field. I, at last, felt someone was listening to me and doing something positive about my condition. I had been feeling very abandoned for the previous four months. I did have to wait a further four months before having a Cardiac MRI but unfortunately that is due to the state of the NHS at the moment. I was prepared to pay to have the MRI but was told that it was routine and not necessary to have it urgently although it felt urgent to me. The cardiac failure care team have been supportive most of the time.

I am 83 and overweight. @ 18st, I am told that I have heart failure- LV Function 44%. I am out of breath after rising and taking a few steps. I am on JARDIANCE daily 1 dose.10mg.I have developed a foot ulcer and genital thrush so stopped dosage for 3 weeks -now resumed. I try to walk 500m each day and do 30 squats from a standing position. My starving blood sugar @ 0700 id 5.5 average. INR is 3.0 But i need to improve my mobility- how ? I note that implanted devices can improve LV performance...might one of these work ? Dr Shanmugnathan listened patiently. He sent me for a nuclear scan at Harefield and I await the results.I am encouraged by his advice and actions. Ilook forward to increased mobility and meeting my new grandaughter in New york ! MMCd

Dr Mayooran Shanmuganathan has been treating me since I was diagnosed with heart failure four months ago. His consultations are friendly, courteous and informative. Reasons for prescribed medications and the need over time to change doses, are clear and understandable. My husband and I have both been very satisfied, confident that I am in good hands and confident in Dr Shanmuganathan as my consultant. Jennifer Perkins
