In February 2016 I was an inpatient at the Lister Hospital for 8 days. Mr. Wijeyekoon was one of the consultants responsible for my care. Following my discharge from hospital I have seen him several times as an outpatient. My appointments are always on time - I have never waited more than a few minutes. He always listens to me carefully and shows respect for my views. He follows up with a letter to myself and my GP after every visit and I have always fully understood my medical situation. This has meant that I feel safe and secure in the knowledge that I can ask questions, receive clear answers and that my well being is his main concern. I could not ask for more from a consultant - blood tests, MRIs, x-rays - all have been arranged promptly. I have had private treatment in the past and the treatment on offer from Mr. Wijeyekoon is as good if not better. The NHS could always be like this with more consultants like this.

I have complete faith in Dr. Wijekekoon. I have been under his care for 3 years On my first consultation, after taking a very detailed history he diagnosed a crush fracture in my back. He arranged for me to have an x-ray which confirmed his diagnosis. I also have osteoporosis and found taking the weekly and monthly medication difficult and so he suggested that I have an injection once every six months. I am finding this so much easier and I am so grateful to him for the care he has given to me. I agree with the patient that says he explains things clearly and also listens to the questions that I ask. He is very sincere and I have great respect for him.

My experience over the previous 4 years with Dr Wijeyekoon has allowed me to live a significantly improved life, through his dedication and ability to explain the issues to me I have had different treatments and a much better understanding of what is actually going on. He was instrumental in moving me on from treatments that were not really effective and getting me to accept my current medication which has resulted in the new lease of life that I presently enjoy. Thank you.

I received the very best of care from Dr Wijeykoon whilst in hospital and in the two years since my discharge and still on-going. I was in Lister Hospital for around 10 weeks with sepsis and other un-specified conditions. After spending time in Intensive Care and then Critical Care I was transferred to a general ward. Dr Wijeyekoon diagnosed my Rhumatoid Artheritis whilst in hospital and has been my consultant thereafter. He was greatly responsible for making it possible for my eventual discharge and under his care I am now back running my company starting work at 7am until 5pm. This is nothing short of miraculous as my wife and family were convinced that this was something I wouldn't ever be well enough to do. I have a blood test a couple of times a month the results of which are monitored by Dr Wijeyekoon who contacts me if anything should be amiss and I visit his consultation clinic a couple of times a year. He is always very courteous and listens to what I have to say. In turn I listen to him and heed his advise which I respect and believe in. As a doctor he is exceptional, as a person he is a gentleman and I thank him for his great contribution in putting me on the road to recovery and a pro-active life once more.

It is difficult realistically expecting a more personal and caring service which I have received from Dr Wijeyekoon, he is always prepared to listen and understand what you are telling him. I know from persononal experience that not all doctors truly listen and take in what you are saying. This has not been my experience with Dr Wijeyekoon. He has always listened, understood and given sound advice to assist my recovery. I personally feel that without Dr Wijeyekoon's involvement in my illness I may never have recovered to lead a reasonably normal life and I am now in a position healthwise, that is possibly slightly better than at the onset of my illness. It is so reassuring to know that the blood tests I have every couple of weeks are monitored by him and if necessary action taken very quickly. I advise anybody to follow his advice which is given in a caring manner where you are treated as a person of equal standing and are not just a number. The most important thing is you feel your consultation is conducted in a constructive manner and he makes you feel you are important to him which instills great confidence. I hold him in the highest regard and am grateful that I am fortute to have him as my consultant. I believe and so does my wife and family that my progress far exceeds what was expected whilst I was very ill in hospital and to a great extent I know this is due to Dr Wijeyekoon's intervention and the personal interest he took. I am now able to run my business and feel a pro-active person once again and for this I and my family can't thank him enough. I am also aware of the fact that if necessary I can telephone him and he will aways reply. Lastly may I add, he is a gentleman.
