Review of Trauma & Orthopaedics Clarendon Wing LGI (3899) written by a patient
13th June 2017

All of the nurses, consultants, surgeons and admin staff are so friendly and reassuring. Every time I come I receive fabulous care, I actually enjoy coming. You really do care about all the trauma I have been through and to help me get back to normal even though I have had a recent setback. Everyone has been very reassuring with my next up and coming operation. Thank you very much everyone on plastics and orthopaedics Vikki Taylor-Lane

Review of L36 Postnatal Ward (0994) written by a patient
25th May 2017

The service I received in this ward was really disgusting.. No 1: my daughter had a severe case of jaundice which the nurses did not pick up on, even when I mentioned it, I was told it was normal, my daughter started shaking to what I got told was normal again.. When I expressed my concerns the midwife told me she will mention it when she does her handover as it was her finishing time.. When the other midwife came she said its not normal and did a prick on her finger to find my babies suger level on 1, she then gave something in her mouth and said her jaundice levels are extremely high and she was rushed to high dependancy unit. Where I was told it was way to high which could have made my baby extremely poorly due to lack of care from the nurses. No 2; The manger of this ward is extremely rude, her behaviour towards my visitors was totally unacceptable as she kept saying to me I'm having to many visitors visit me, even though they were coming 2 at a time in my room. She spoke extremely rude to them and at one point would not even open the door to them. My mum was really stressed out with her behaviour and didn't come meet me due to her as she was being really rude and my mum didn't want my care affected.. We shouldn't be feeling this way.. She really needs to learn some manners and customer service skills, she's very lucky we didn't say anything as we was really happy that our baby was getting better.. But the behaviour on that ward is totally unacceptable..! No 3: 4 years ago in BRI i was swobbed for MRSI. To which I received a letter as I was discharged to find out It came back positive. I mentioned it to the midwife that it was positive 4 years ago. To then find out I started to get treated like I had AIDS, I was never told about the protocol they needed to take, only to when I was going to make my self a cup of tea I was told not to leave my room Rudly infront of other midwifes.. The midwife came in to my room where I was crying, who then apologised and said she thought i knew about the protocol. I was treated really bad, I was In an emotional state as my baby was in high dependancy. I also had 3rd degree tears and was finding the difficult to to c floor walking.. Overall my card was horrible horrible experience as this was my first baby.. I do no want to use this hospital again. I hope someone looks in to this..! My number is 07720613056..

Review of L42 Children's Surgery (1464)
21st May 2017

The care we received on both stays in L42 (we had 5 days in Feb too) was fantastic, we felt safe and confident that my son was in the best place and receiving the correct care. Our first stay could've been improved in a couple of small ways; from my point of view I was only shown one parent bathroom and spent time waiting outside for a few days before discovering a second nearby. A small thing I know, but after 3 weeks of my son being ill it feels like a big thing. From my sons point of view, there is only one shower on the ward and it was difficult to control the flow and temperature (he managed to scald himself) The ward is very busy, but I did feel that there was a lot of unnecessary noise during the night that kept disturbing both of us. Eg noisy trolley's!

Review of L49 Children's Day Case Unit (1159) written by a family member
20th May 2017

Although the overall care was good, I felt left out of the loop. We arrived at 07-30. Eventually my son went down to theatre around noon. Not given an approximate theatre time. Not kept informed of any delay. So an 8 year old little boy with learning difficulties, was kept thirsty, and hungry. When I asked about the time, and how much longer? I was told they would ring to find out. Did anybody come, and inform me? No, I had to go, and ask again. On collecting him from the recovery room taking him back to the ward. The porter sped off, leaving the nurse, and myself some 10 yards behind the trolley. As he had vomited in recovery( so much we had to change his pyjamas on return to the ward ) I was concerned that if he vomited again we were too far away. The dedicated, so called, Theatre lift was being used by Laundry men, and cleaners. They had to be asked to get out so we could get in, but of course we then went down, and up stopping at every floor. As I said the overall care was good. Especially Megan the play leader. Excellent. His care after the operation was good, but parents do need to be kept infor.med

The Antenatal Clinic staff are rude, tough and lack respect, The lady at the reception treated me as an alien and the Ultrasound technician was shouting at me in the waiting room. Maternity procedures are usually very sensitive and patients need to be treated with respect and dignity, People there lack basic manners and whenever I remember I will have to give birth at this place I feel pain in the stomach, they tuned a once happy pregnancy into a very unpleasant and uncomfortable experience
