The optometrists at Boots are by far the best and actually know what they are talking about, but this is let down by the fact that no one else who works there seems to know what they are doing. The general staff forgot to have me do some of the tests before seeing the optometrist, they came across as quite unprofessional by not paying much attention to what was going on around them and seemed more interested in chatting with one another, and finally when I was sent off with one of the staff to talk about glasses she didn't seem to understand I needed a dark tint as well as the UV protection, anti glare etc. for my ocular albinism. She also provided me with incorrect information, telling me I could get glasses and the lenses I needed for only £75, and if I got a pair of glasses from elsewhere I could have the lenses put in for still only £75. After going to a different Boots opticians today I was told that it would be an extra £90 on (top of the £75 for the lenses) to have lenses put into glasses I got elsewhere, which quite frankly is a disgusting overcharge when other opticians only charge between £20-£30. I was also told that they did not do the option of £75 for glasses and lenses together, and that the cheapest frames available was £50, which is once again extortionate since you can get the same frames elsewhere for £10. The staff at Boots opticians need to have better training about what it is they provide and Boots needs to really get their act together in regards to unnecessary costs (which has been pointed out on numerous occasions by trading standards).
