I received a letter from Boots asking me to make an eye appointment either online or by phone. I tried online and got through to the time slot page for Braehead but it never loaded. I then telephoned three times but no-one answered, my call went into a loop of options but no-one answered.

I went to Boots Opticians thinking I would get decent quality glasses at a reasonable price. A few folk had recommended Specsavers but I thought it would be better to avoid the cheaper opticians and go to a place with a good reputation. Big mistake! I bought two pairs of glasses in the 'second pair half price' offer. Both pairs are the same. Since I got them they haven't fitted properly and are sore and uncomfortable to wear, despite having been back four times to ask to get them adjusted or changed. After the fourth attempt I gave up and went to Specsavers, where I ordered a pair of their cheapest glasses at £25 to try out. I was measured up for these and they adjusted the frames to ensure they were comfortable before the lenses were made. The service there was very professional in comparison to Boots. The Specsavers glasses are the ones I wear every day now, whilst my Boots glasses sit in a drawer gathering dust. I've tried on my Boots glasses a few times since then but they're still uncomfortable. I'm annoyed with myself for having wasted £138 on two pairs of glasses I'll never wear. I certainly wouldn't go back to Boots Opticians again. In future I'll go to Specsavers for my glasses.

I took my son for an eye examination as he was complaining of headaches. I booked appointment on-line which was really easy. We arrived shortly before appointment and we were taken before our appointment time. The assistant explained to my son what each eye examination machine did and what to expect. He was quite nervous about the appointment but he found this experience good and rather interesting. The optometrist was really nice and friendly and gave my son a thourgh eye examination explaining everything she was doing. I think her name was Iona. It turned out my son needed glasses and we were offered help to look at and pick glasses. There was a good selection in different styles and my son quite enjoyed trying them on before he finally picked his pair. Purchasing them was a quick and easy process and the assistant was really helpful to find an appointment for myself to be there to collect them with my son. All in all a pleasant experience. I will definitely be going back to Boots. I'm planning to make an appointment for myself there soon.

The staff seem very professional and thorough. The only thing I feel could be improved is the small room with 3 machines for the different aspect of preliminary testing - the room had 3 machines, 3 clients and 3 members of staff - I think that although it was not a big issue the room is too small for 9 objects simultaneously.

Cheryl spent a lot of time with us finding the perfect pair of glasses for our two year old. She ordered in a wide range of glasses for us to try and explained why the positioning of the lenses in relation to the eye was so important. She was with us through the whole experience of selecting glasses and fitting them- making sure they were the correct fit for our daughter. She could not have made the experience any easier!

I was given a chloramphenicol ointment for a keritonitis/ corneal ulcer. Every other time I've been referred straight to a hospital. I had to make a second appointment to get the referral, and once seen had to then wait til the next day (a Sunday) to collect my prescription when most pharmacies are closed. I also had to duck out of work to go collect it because I've been in too much pain to wait until I finished. Given my history of belpharitis and frequent corneal ulcers, which I detailed to the optometrist, I should have been referred in the first instance. The second day I was in a lot of pain. I'm ten pound out of pocket on remedies that only agitated the condition, plus the extra cost of making a second trip over. If it had been dealt with correctly in the first instance I wouldn't have had to wait two days to pick up a prescription I know off the top of my head at this point and wouldn't have had to pay 20-30 pounds on treatments that should have been prescribed to me and unnecessary travel expenses.
