Boots Opticians Barnsley - Market Street

All staff were really friendly, they explained exactly what was happening as it happened so I felt relaxed throughout! The service was quick but I did not feel rushed

The appointment was a nightmare from start to finish. My daughter had to go back due to needing eye drops for a closer look. So we finally attended after the branch needing to cancel various times due to no optometrist. To find out they didn't have any drops after been sat waiting for 40 minutes. They finally sourced some from a different branch and in total we were there for about 2hours with all my three children one a 6 month old baby. The staff were clearly overworked and the branch under staff with one poor guy behind reception doing all the work. The optometrist was nice and explained to my daughter what she was doing and spoke clearly to her but never told us her name. The last few appointments we've attended have been no where near the standards we received on our first visit to store and in the future I'm really tempted to take my daughter elsewhere for her eyetests.

This was my fourth visit, and also the fourth time I have ever used an optician. I chose to use Boots because I believe they are a trusted brand. I continue to use them to build up an history of my eye Health. There is a history of glaucoma in my family. On all my visits I have found the Optomerists to be professional and polite, however I have not had the same experience with the other staff. On my second visit I was told in an abrupt manner that I was late for my appointment, when in fact I was five minutes early. I had to show the lady in the shop the text message on my phone. On my third visit, the shop assistant complained that I should not have used the website to book an appointment if I wanted a free check due to Glaucoma, as she would now have to fill in a new appointment form. For my fourth appointment, I went into store to make an appointment and stressed the Glaucoma history. The assistant failed to note this and the wrong form was completed for my appointment. Yet again a new appointment form had to be completed on the day . Although the staff on the actual day of the appointment were fine about this. Not a good overall experience over several visits.

I received excellent service from the optometrist. I have been having regular eye tests for forty years and this test was amongst the best I have experienced. I felt the service was very thorough, efficient and friendly. Also the woman who assisted me to chose my new spectacles was very helpful.

Optometrist explained everything throughout my eye test she was very helpful and thorough. I would definitely go back there again.
