Well I think they forgot about me, we were there for 6hrs. I was seen by the first nurse after 1hr and told soneone would call me through to be seen by the consultant but i then had to go and ask when it was my turn after 5hrs. They said they called me twice but I hadn't left the waiting room except to go to the toilet but my husband was with me and he stayed in the room while I was gone . Of course I understand its always busy and I was told I would have to wait as I hadn't been referred by anyone hence why I didn't ask before as i didn't want to bother them the receptionist unnecessarily.

The skill, humour and patience of the nursing staff.
Suggested improvements
This was my first time in MIU. Maybe I caught Reception on a bad day (it was very busy), however I felt the response when I first presented was a little brusque and not all the injuries I’d mentioned were noted on the first contact sheet. I appreciate the staff have to be very clear about their boundaries and the unpredictable waiting times.

Staff were excellent and despite the pressure of the volume of patients waiting I always felt they took the time to deal with my injury
Suggested improvements
I could’ve been seen quicker. That I believe is probably down to adequate funding rather than the running of the unit. However, I had a dislocated finger and if I’d been seen earlier it would’ve been easier and less painful to reconnect

Not too many waiting, so we were seen quite quickly.

A better layout of the seating would improve the overlook of the department.

We were looked after so well . All staff were excellent and especially Priya (A&E) who was brilliant with my daughter and provided all the necessary information to continue treating her Illness at home . Cannot fault anything . Thanks very much
