I have had 3 procedures at the Montefiore 1 orthopaedic and 2 minor general procedures in the past year and I have to say I have nothing but praise for this hospital I am an insured patient but there is no difference whether private or NHS. The staff in out patients are lovely, and put you at your ease. When I was admitted the whole process was smooth from start to finish the staff from the catering staff, the cleaning staff, the physios (excellent ) the nurses, theatre staff and surgeons were wonderful. I hope that's it and I've finished with hospitals now but if I ever have to return it's montefiore for me excellent!

The treatment I received from all staff was friendly and professional. My initial visit was as a private patient for a second opinion and I was given a MRI scan within in an hour of my consultation. Further visits were as a referred NHS patient and the quality of service was equally high. Appointments were confirmed in writing and their was little waiting on the day.

From admission on 1st March I received great personal attention. I felt as though I was listened to by Mr. Hatrick. He gave the impression that we were in this together and his team were efficient; his anaesthetist treated my 40 year old details with care and no problems arose after listening to my distant history carefully. One problem arose on the Sunday following the procedure [5thMarch], when an over zealous nurse over-rode my clear request to remain in the hospital overnight as Mr.Hatrick had arranged to see my left hand [which had no sensitivity, grip or feeling] on the Monday morning. I was told in no uncertain terms that the bed was needed. Some friends, visiting, offered to take me home with them and I felt quite unable to deal with the situation presented to me. I was then asked to sign 'the necessary paper work' but there was no mention of my discharging myself, as I had expressed the opposite wish very firmly. I am sure that had the Consultant been present, there would have been no question of my being required to leave until he had seen my hand the following morning and remedial work set in motion. As it happens it was not until the 20th March that I eventually had an appointment with M.Hatrick and a CT scan was carried out on Friday, 24th, 19 days after I was told that it was necessary that I should vacate the bed. 19 days, due to administrative malfunction with a hand which I could only exercise. My GP arranged for West Sussex Council to operate their one-Call system to operate, but these 19 days, with a useless hand, have seemed endless. An appointment was sent yesterday for 5 weeks' time, but I do hope that someone will be able to arrange for treatment to be started quickly. I shall try to get a phone conversation with Mr.Hatrick this coming week. The shoulder, after 3 days pain, began to improve and responded to the frequent exercising I followed diligently. There has been hardly any bruising and now even the scar seems almost invisible.

The facilities are modern, very clean and the staff helpful and friendly. I had ultrasound, an MRI and then shoulder surgery at this hospital, and the whole process was excellent. I would recommend this hospital to anyone looking for treatment with excellent staff and facilities.
