The service received from my first visit to my last has been perfect all my appointments have been prompt and my appointments have also been booked at times to fit me which is perfect, from the Doctors to the nursing staff everyone is first rate. The Bmi Alexandra hospital is only let down by poor parking spaces

Despite the ongoing building works, the staff here were professional, informal yet structured. the hand offs seem too much, but were conducted with such effortless professionalism that a few of my own prejudices were shattered -

I had knee arthroscopy in October 17 with a good outcome. My only criticism about my care was that the surgery was delayed during the day and put back. I was aware that the staff knew this but was allowed to become very dehydrated resulting in a terrible headache and feeling really awful prior to the surgery. To have been allowed some fluids with clearer communication about timing of the surgery would certainly have improved my experience. The delay was 5hours later than planned. Better care by communicating with theatre from the ward and then offering some fluid was required.

In spite of building operations going on around the hospital, which was obviously causing some problems, i.e. locating various areas and parking difficulties my treatment there was exceptional. Mr Saxeena explained the procedure fully and I was made aware of the likely outcome. As predicted, following the operation I was completely pain free, but as again predicted some pain returned later. 70% reduction in pain was the suggested outcome and I would feel that is about right, up to the present time, six weeks post op. Bearing in mind that I have reduced painkilllers to just the recommended level of just paracetamol, from Tramadol. Co.codomol and Pregabalen, I feel that this is quite remarkable.

The hospital is a clean, friendly environment which i would strongly recommend. I have been there as a patient, out patient and as a parent of a patient. The reception staff, the porters, the concierge the nurses, consultants and just about everyone you come in contact with are so lovely and go out of their way to help and make you feel welcome and comfortable. The food is amazing too! Only constructive comment I have was on the day of my arrival on 16th October at 7.15 am I queued up where it said inpatients and there was a young lady sat there so I moved forward and stood in front of her to be checked in. She ignored me totally and then after about 5 minutes just walked off. She definitely saw me. If she wasn't the person to go to or I had stepped forward before I should, I think it would be better patient service if she had said I'm sorry I am not doing reception. The very least she should have done if she was going to come back to me was acknowledged me.
