I arrived at the hospital for an operation and was sent to the wrong ward on the wrong floor. No apology was made by the grumpy nurse who informed me of this.
I was walked down to the operating theatre with a nurse who got lost and didn't know how to access the theatre I was operated in. The theatre staff sent us in the right direction luckily.
Post operatively the pad that was below me in the operating theatre was transferred with me back to the hospital bed. I had to ask the nurses to change it.
The room given to me was fairly large. The lights could only be turned on/off from the area by the door which is completely impractical for an ill patient to access.
The food is probably the worst I have ever tasted. It made nhs hospital food seem amazing. My blood pressure was very low after the operation. The nurse advised me to drink more fluid. He kept offering to bring orange juice but never did. I did manage to get water though from other staff. My blood pressure remained low so intravenous fluids had to be started. I didn't get any sleep the whole night as the pump kept alarming. The pump had not been charged so had to be plugged in to the wall so couldn't move from the one position in the bed.
Once they unplugged everything I was able to use the bathroom. It was again impractical. I wanted to have a shower but the shower head was attached to the wall in a way that would cause the water to come down the wall. The flow was also a trickle.
The toilet paper was attached to the opposite wall to the toilet so you need very long arms to use it.
I personally would not have a procedure at this hospital again.
Multiple appointments on Monday . Saw Dr Eric Lever re diabetes , Dr Justin Lee for shoulder injection ( steroid) and MRI.
Brilliant kind and professional as well as clinically effective ev based treatment that is fully discussed at all levels.
Dr Lever an endocrinologist never fails to motivate me to do the best I can re my diabetic control and then steps in where need be . Not an easy condition and multiple issues with vision, feet, symptoms, neuropathy, treatment approaches and monitoring plus self management . The best thing is his gentle but firm manner when I need some intervention and I feel supported too.
The hospital itself I've been using for 15 years . Operated on twice successfully by gynaecologist Mr Mike Bowen and nursing staff so good I came back. Lovely Matron takes hands on interest.
I've used all the private hospitals in North London and this one is the best I've experienced . It's a good place and coffee good too,
AMAZING!!
The hospital has a good location and is small and friendly. The staff were very helpful and I would have no qualms about a return visit.
Whilst the hernia price of £1,995 is not the cheapest it is good to know that Hospital profits, a registered charity, help support St John’s Hospice caring for 3,000 terminally ill patients each year. I especially liked the fact that it was a single total price, there were no hidden or extra costs. (car parking nearby was £22 for a day)
From my arrival at the hospital through to discharge everything was well timed; all staff were very friendly and very professional.
The service I received from the doctor I saw was excellent.
However the patient who had an appointment to me was 20 mins late. This resulted in my appointment being later than planned.
When I pointed out to a nurse that I was being kept waiting due another patient being inconsiderate in arriving very late the situation was resolved immediately.
A thoroughly clean hospital that has the patient at the heart of it!
I was very happy with my experience of the hospital, helpful staff, no long waits and very clean.
.
The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth's is a very clean, modern hospital with pleasant staff.
