Review of Bereavement written by a patient

The staff at Clacton Hospice that I have met have been wonderful and for that I thank them from the bottom of my heart. The people in my group are all feeling the same as myself about their loss and we are there for each other which is a comfort on good or bad days.

The one to one counselling service was a massive help to me to come to terms with losing my husband without this help and the bereavement friendship club I would not be where I am today. Your staff are so helpful and nothing is too much for them.

I felt as though my BV was sympathetic, made useful suggestions to help me move forward and was always encouraging when necessary. There was no hint of rationed time, which meant I could rely on as much time as I needed during a difficult and desperate episode in my life. Important not to be abandoned.

Extremely flexible and approachable staff- I always felt welcome and accommodated; a very patient, kind and understanding counselor who enabled me to feel that what I was experiencing was 'normal' and 'OK' so that I put less pressure on myself. The environment is relaxed and comfortable. Immediately putting me at ease every time. I walked through the door. The communication was good. I was anxious about my initial self referral but was quickly reassured on the telephone.

Nothing could be improved. The counselor was very appreciative of my needs and feelings and this made my experience very satisfying and helpful.

I can't fault the care and respect I have been given whilst staying at the hospice. When I was asked to go into a hospice for 6 day respite I must admit the thought frightened me, but now I have completely changed my mind. I would always come back again without hesitation. The care I have been given has been exceptional from the nurses, domestic staff and volunteers etc.
