All staf in the a and e and resus department were absolutely amazing, couldn't have done anything any better. All doctors, surgeons, nurses that came to tend to my little boy were outstanding.
It was around 1:30am when I arrived in A&E and there was only one other person waiting. I was hopeful that I would be seen quickly but it was a good 1 1/2 before I saw the doctor. I understand that there may be other incidents that he had to attend to but surely it wouldn’t be too much to expect an update from someone? Just a quick ‘doctors very busy but will be with you ASAP’ … but nothing - very frustrating.
I appreciate that our A&E departments are extremely busy at the moment, but I quite honestly, was terrified during my recent visit! I felt as if I was in a cattle market as one of the animals, herded in and pulled out of my ‘pen’ to be triaged, then back out into the marketplace. The registered nurse, who I had my first conversation with, did my ‘obs and was fully prepared to accept that my temperature was 35.1! Considering that a body temperature of 35 degrees or below constitutes an medical emergency according to the NHS itself, and the reason for my attendance was a two day history of a temperature of 38 degrees and above, concerned me to say the least. When I questioned the validity of this reading, I was assured that the piece of equipment had been recently calibrated, and the nurse did not express any concern about my ‘hypothermia’. I was thus returned to my holding pen and after hearing a man at the reception desk ask if his wife would be seen soon, as they had been waiting for seven and a half hours, I decided to take my chances with my GP and left the department without being seen by a doctor. Many of the other attendees were not wearing masks and there was no opportunity to wipe down the chairs prior to sitting. I understand that our Health Service is seriously under-staffed and the COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented disruption, but this is beyond all reason. I have been a registered nurse for over 40 years and found the whole experience traumatic and shocking. We absolutely would not even treat our beloved pets like this, never mind our beloved families. How can we, as a society, accept that this is even slightly ‘ok’? Appalled and very sad to see our great NHS in such a mess.
Was kept waiting 8 hours for CT Span results from Hull. Very unhappy.
Having been under a specialist for spinal problems and a chiro and physiotherapist and my own GP stating I have issues with 2 vertebrae and sciatica.....a GP I saw in this visit said I did not have sciatica or spinal problems and was just backache without even examining my back.....then asked me if I had loss of sensation when using the toilet I said no yet he performed a rectal exam.anyway yet still.did nit examine my back and sent me home still in.pain and told me to exercise........how can x rays and 2 doctors be wrong about my spinal issues and yet he states nothings wrong with me without even an examination
My experience was very good under the circumstances of how busy they were .
Starting on ward 26 with Sally and Student midwife Roxie, I was very pleased with the care and support they gave in getting me to the delivery suite as soon as was possible.
Then when in delivery suite, Jo and student midwife Sophie were fantastic in the early stages of labour making me feel at ease. And onto actual delivery, Sally and student midwife Victoria were amazing in the care they gave and I couldn't have been in better hands.
And then when waiting to be discharged, Lexie was great and very informative! All members were great, friendly and supportive! Amazing team!
