Rang the number I was given told had to go straight to A&E to see the doctor before he finishes at 5pm. Got there at 4:30 to be told the doctor had already left and it would now have to be Grimsby hospital as ENT doctor wasn’t in!

Suggested improvements
If the doctor leaves at 5 make sure he leaves at 5 and not 4:30!

Please specify which answer you require an explanation for….. Overall my mother was admitted to A&E, I found the experience difficult, in that locating her was awkward, finding out information was difficult, trying to explain her circumstances was not easy. The staff seemed ok, but were totally focused on her chest and not really interested in looking at other causes of a possible infection, I still don’t know if they actioned anything I asked. I found water and kept giving it to my mum as she was very dehydrated- if I hadn’t no one would have offered her any.

Suggested improvements
I am completing this on behalf of my 90yr old mother, had I not been present I am not convinced she would have been offered drinks, been able to use the toilet, or have understood what was going on. There were a few staff involved with her and most were lovely, but the registered nurse looking after her in the final stage before discharge seemed distracted, never finished a job e.g started IV paracetamol, but failed to the fluids afterwards, didn’t introduce herself whereas everyone else did. The young Dr was far more proactive to the point where she was looking for a wheelchair for me to take Mum home in - surely not her job?? As a relative trying to negotiate the department is a nightmare, so many changes of location for my mum added to her disorientation. Holistic approach seems lacking too. Staff seemed reluctant to pursue other causes of infection when the focus was on her chest - which was no worse than 2 weeks prior.

The staff were excellent, I have no complaints about my treatment at all. Having to be left on my own was a bit scary but everyone was just brilliant. The new a&e is fantastic. Thanks to all concerned

Suggested improvements
The only thing I would mention is that whilst sitting in the waiting area you hear what is wrong with everyone and some people must've been embarrassed having to say what was wrong with them

Suggested improvements
Difficult to hear at reception whilst booking in - felt a bit lost coming out of x-ray back to A&E.
