There is no understanding of consent, things are just done or they tell you what they are going to do. They act like you're being difficult if you ask for them to seek explicit consent each time they do something. There are lots of staff that just seem to want to provoke and cause conflict, it feels very authoritarian. I wasn't treated with respect or kindness for which there is never any excuse.

I have noticed previous comments on this site are a few years old. Here’s my experience up to date. I attended QEQM and the AnE dept was fully booked patients sitting and waiting, fair enough that was to be expected being the only hospital in the area. My problem was passing out and feeling rather weak. I sat on a chair in AnE for over 4 hours until seen. I had my blood taken which was painful now supporting a very black arm. Back to sitting on chair in reception area for another 2 hours. A guy from the streets came in and slept on the floor in the AnE dept where patients were waiting . This guy was not taken out by security. No offer of sandwiches were offered and the shop had closed so therefore we had not eaten from Entering to going home for approx 12 hours. I was told I had to have a blood transfusion and that would take another 4 hours.. I was so tired and upset with the whole experience that I needed to go home . I discharged myself getting nowhere. After a week I received a letter from the hospital telling me I will be having a blood transfusion at Cantetbury hospital which I will attend. A longer way to travel but surely it cannot get any worse can it????

I had a fairly serious accident with a power tool that shredded my thumb. I was seen by a nurse within 15 minutes of arriving at the Urgent Treatment Centre, and was then treated immediately. The two nurses who cleaned and bandaged my hand were friendly and very professional. You really couldn't ask for better or faster treatment and clearer advice on how to care for the wound myself.

Birchington Ward @ the QEQM. The staff on this ward are simply wonderful. My favourite nurse was ‘Joy’, who really helped me with my anxiety. A beautiful soul, inside and out and a credit to the ward. But, I must not just single’Joy’ out, as every staff member I met, were wonderful. Such kind and caring people. The ward was spotlessly clean and very organised. Thankyou for looking after me.

My wife had a dental surgery yesterday and on way to car park1 at St Peter’s entrance she passed out. Holly and her team arrived with a wheelchair and quickly took her back into the hospital called a doctor and on his advice took her toA &E, they were so kind and made sure both of us were given drinks ,sorted out my parking tickets. In A&E they looked after us and Desmond went the extra mile making sure we had food and drinks. On behalf of my wife and myself I would like to thank all of them and the hospital for great service and support. Brian & Rosaline Walters
