Review of D5 written by a patient
29th September 2018

The food fell far below the standard required for a patient recovering from major surgery. Much of it tasted as though it had been cooked days beforehand. The haddock and chips was particularly horrible. The service provided by medical, nursing and support staff was almost all superb with the exception of one young doctor who clearly resented having to work at the w/e and two night nurses who were grumpy and unsmiling?

Review of Eye Outpatients written by a patient
27th September 2018

The worst part of the whole morning was the excessive delay in The Pharmacy. It was not the staff’s fault - they were simply swamped with patients. Everything else was so well run - it’s a shame. It meant I left the hospital nearly an hour later than I could have - taking up a parking space etc. The staff still stayed cheerful and professional.

Review of E3 written by a patient
27th September 2018

All staff were polite and caring, although the medical staff were stretched quite thinly. I would have liked a detailed post op explanation of the procedure that was carried out, and more information regarding side effects. I received a very short assessment of my suitability for discharge the morning after surgery, and in fact suffered constipation/ileus for several days after; something that I wasn't prepared for. I was on the cusp of calling out the emergency doctor until my condition improved drastically at 0300 on 25 Sep, 5 days after discharge. Had I been better informed and perhaps given appropriate medication (or prescription), then I feel that this situation could have been avoided. Additionally I had the usual long wait (over 6 hours) for receipt of TTO's, eventually being escorted to the pharmacy by the ward Sister to collect them. Overall, I am pleased that my surgery has been completed to a high standard and one week post op my pain & discomfort is beginning to ease. I was grateful for a 'window seat' on E3, and thank the staff for their care and attention.

Review of Day Surgery Unit written by a patient
21st September 2018

My treatment on Wednesday 19th Sept could not have been better from the moment I arrived at the TAS unit until I was discharged. Everyone I met was friendly and really informative, especially about the procedures that I was going to go through. The only criticism I have is that there were no magazines in the male waiting area to while away the time with.

Review of C7 written by a family member

The staff were extremely courteous, respectful, friendly and helpful. They cannot do enough to make sure you are comfortable. There was a high level of cleanliness and excellent medical care. Two members of staff on the ward deserve special mention, Val & Chip. They both showed great kindness and care.

I had major placenta previa and it was all explained thoroughly. I had to have a c section and the overall experience was wonderful, i felt very supported as did my partner. I would happily go through the experience again. Such a lovely team, many thanks for looking after me and my little girl during my first ever surgery.
