Review of B8 (Labour) written by a patient
16th October 2018

The staff made me feel very relaxed and that I mattered. Even if I thought the question was silly they treated it seriously and helped me to feel that I could ask anything. Particularly during the C-section, the staff were very professional and kept me involved throughout the whole experience and ensured that I understood what was happening each step of the way. What could have been quite a stressful time was made easier to deal with because the staff were amazing. Thank you.

Review of Eye Day Case written by a family member
3rd October 2018

The eye department seems to be the forgotten department in the bowels of the hospital. Tired, small, old in appearance. Needs updating and the layout 're thinking. Better use could be made of the space. It is a very busy department and I'm sure the staff would also rather work in a more modern environment. The wait time at the outpatient appointment was long but when seen, the process was smooth. It is just the environment that needs work in comparison to the rest of the hospital.

The care I received was efficient and reassuring. The nurse I saw (Debbie Hunt) was professional, patient and caring. The appointment went smoothly and there was very little waiting. An excellent service.

Review of Eye Outpatients written by a patient
30th September 2018

I was at QA for laser treatment to one eye, (capsulotomy). The treatment went well and I now have clear vision in that eye. However, I would have liked more information. Is the condition likely to return? Is it normal to have a number of floaters in my eye, which are still there? Having had to wait 23 weeks for this, a few minutes with a member of staff after the actual treatment would have been useful. Also I was informed beforehand that I would be there for at least 2 hours. It would have also been helpful to know that after the 2 and a half hours spent in the eye department , there was a further one hour wait in the pharmacy.

Review of Gynae Ambulatory written by a patient
29th September 2018

I was an in patient for 7 nights on A5/6. The first 6 days I was in a single room. The day before I was discharged I was moved to a 4 bedded room. My problem with this was that the lady opposite me had her male partner with her all day from 9.25am until at least 10pm. He arrived at 9.25am the next morning as well. I found this awkward and embarrassing as it was a Gynae.ward, with various nurses and medical staff asking us all sorts of personal questions. I pulled my curtains round my bed but then got too hot, also going to the toilet (which was next to her bed) I found embarrasing. Luckily I was discharged during the 2nd afternoon. This is only thing I didn't like - the complete lack of privacy with a male visitor there all the time.
