I went last night 10 August 2022, I was greeted by a lovely lady on the desk called Helen, who recognised me from years ago, she was lovely. I was seen fairly quickly by a lovely young hires and her helper, she asked me what was wrong etc, I told her and got upset?, I was then transferred to a Advanced Nurse Practitioner called Catherine, she was just the best! She tried 2 different types of a mask over my mouth to help me breathe etc, she came back gave me some really good advice, and gave me some tablets to take whilst I was there, then gave me a prescription. This has been around 3 times in what seems to be short periods of time that I have been to the walk in centre in Penrith. But I would especially like someone to tell Catherine how very grateful I was for her help and kindness! She puts Carlisle to shame- a brilliant woman. Thank you Catherine sorry if it’s spelt with a K
Fantastic urgent care given on the date mentioned, appointment given and seen all be it a little later than the stated time. The doctor showing great patient care and recommending further treatment at Carlisle.
He even went as far as to follow up on the outcome of the treatment by way of contacting myself later on in the day to enquire as to my wellbeing.
Fantastic service from C.H.O.C.

Excellent care and treatment most impressed by the sincere interest shown by every single member of staff and by their kindness and professional attitude.
The staff are brilliant ,ive always been seen to quickly in the past and with great care. Tonight i went really unwell and got seen quickly and the doctor was awesome. I had in a folder a printout of all my medical conditions, medications , allergies, learning disability passport and he took time to read through it all! not many do that these days. The doctor was also understanding compassionate and caring and lovely. he explained things to me clearly and was very helpful in the way he explained things and helpful in general. Id like to thank the doctor very much for taking the time to read all my medications allergies and learning disability passport and for all the above as its truly appreciated and im impressed.
Excellent service.
re the telephone service -
1 - could it be added somewhere in the instructions for use: that if you have a call blocker on your phone that excludes Withheld Numbers, the call blocker needs to be disabled when CHOC has to call back to a patient. My assessment on 4 March failed on callbacks for this reason.
2 - if CHOC are asked to use a mobile number in preference to a landline, please tell them to use it - my assessment on 4 March failed on callbacks for this reason plus the above (1).
3 - when CHOC did call back and I was able to pick up and answer the phone, they asked for my husband not me (I was the one who was in need and hubby was not aware of what was happening, or even within call) and they would not give a reason for calling as it was confidential. It took some forceful discussion to get the caller to realise that they were speaking to the patient. I think this needs to be a good deal more patient friendly!
