I went to Musgrove Park Hospital, initially in intensive care, due to a near fatal overdose when feeling unwell. A few days after coming out of high dependency I was transferred to Exmoor Ward. I found the nurses here compassionate and warming. I still felt psychologically unwell, as noted in my notes. I saw a very glum, uncaring woman psychatrist, who, after around a 6 minute conversation discharged me. I was still having extreme thoughts of suicide, and not thinking clearly. I told her I had planned to take more tablets. She completely, to the amazement of the doctors and nurses on the ward, ignored me, muttering, if that was what I wanted then go ahead. I said I didnt want that, but that I needed some sort of help. She then walked away saying look up the samaritans, that's why they're there. I, as well as other nurses and doctors on the wards could not believe how she was allowed to do this. Musgrove Park Hospital mental health is the poorest I have ever seen for psychiatric services. It has a very bad culture. And I feel very unsafe knowing that they just do not care, my personal view!

Spent over 3 weeks in hospital both on ITU and ward. Felt safe and cared for even at most vulnerable stages of treatment

Absolutely fantastic hospital. I was airlifted to Musgrove following a serious heart attack on Easter Sunday. Everyone was amazing from the consultant/surgeon and his team that basically saved my life to the caring and considerate nurses and staff who looked after me on CCU. The place was very clean, nothing was ever to much trouble and even the food was pretty good!

Our Mum went into Musgrove Park Hospital for treatment after trying to take her life and the next day was discharged in her dressing gown and socks without clothes/phone/money unseen by any psychiatrict or Mental Health Staff telling staff in MAU that she was going to jump from the motorway bridge. We rang the hospital after her discharge and could not find her so alerted police who found her the other side of the motorway bridge about to leap off. There was no urgency and no apology from any of the staff at either Musgrove or mental Health and she is left to do it all over again if she becomes unwell. We never hope it comes to this again but if it does, surely this is classed as neglectful. She/we are asking for help but it's apon deaf ears.
