My husband was an emergency admission to Glasgow Royal he was kept In acute assessment for 2 days which wasn’t a problem as he was comfortable enough and was seen by appropriate doctors regarding his problem , he was transferred to ward 50 and after a couple of hours sent to ward 29 , I called ward 50 and asked why he was put there I was told this was because it was Covid free I thought well that’s good as he was just getting over Covid ,however my husband was never seen by a respiratory consultant the whole time he was in this ward it turns out this was a geriatric ward and yes my husband does come into this age however he was not admitted because of this he has severe COPD and was struggling he should have been in a respiratory ward or he should have been treated by one of these consultants while in this ward 29 , but learned they where not notified he was there ,, on the following Monday a geriatric cons came into ward 29 and discharged my husband I called up to collect him and could not believe the way he was he was pushed up to me in a wheelchair hanging forward had lost a terrible amount of weight. , I asked to talk with a doctor who came forward I asked several questions about his care and follow up I was not given one answer it was wouldn’t like to say or don’t know ,his follow up was a dietitian , he could not walk , this ward is freezing cold and the food disgusting which of course the staff can’t help this ,after 36 hours at home he was another emergency admission spent couple days in acute assessment then put to ward 53 I went up straight away to talk with the ward doctor expressing I did not want him transferred into ward 29 he assured me this would not happen eventually he was transferred into ward 24 all the staff and consultants where wonderful and nursed my husband back to life yes he has a long way to go wee know ,he actually walked out of this ward 10 days later I would like to thank Dr Cotton and all the other doctors nursing staff cleaners domestics in this wonderful ward 24 , you all deserve a medal and are doing a wonderful job that other people could learn from
