I was advised by my doctor and 111 to go straight to A&E as I was really struggling with my asthma and inhaylers were not working. Upon arriving I wasn’t even triaged by a human, but a computer which told me to go to urgent care. I sat on my own struggling to breathe for 4 hours, and it was only when I alerted a staff member to my charts pains that I was seen to/spoken to by a medical professional. I was then told I was having a panic attack (I’m not surprised after waiting that long struggling to breathe) and that I should calm down and they couldn’t see anything else wrong with me. I have had asthma since birth, therefore am well aware of when something was not right.
I was then told unless I wanted to go and wait in A&E for another 4-6 hours, I should go home. After struggling all night I saw my doctor who said that I had a really bad chest infection and prescribed antibiotics and steroids, even my doctor was appalled at how badly I was treated.
Good service
After 3 visits to A and E in the last 8 weeks I still don't have a diagnosis. On one occasion I was waiting 16 hours
.
Very satisfactory and timely attention.
Polycystic kidney and liver disease
The service was very good
Allergy and asthma
I was having breathing problems and was referred by 111
I was checked in and seen extremely quickly. I was asked minimal questions about my symptoms, length of time i had suffered with the symptoms and briefly examined. I was told it was a chest infection and was given a weeks worth of antibiotics. These had no effect on me as it wasnt a chest infection it was however Pneumonia! How the doctor missed this i have no idea. However from my initial call to 111 to actually attending UTC i was impressed with response times and options given to me. So the process was great the doctor i saw wasn’t. Thank you
