I was advised by my doctor and 111 to go straight to A&E as I was really struggling with my asthma and inhaylers were not working. Upon arriving I wasn’t even triaged by a human, but a computer which told me to go to urgent care. I sat on my own struggling to breathe for 4 hours, and it was only when I alerted a staff member to my charts pains that I was seen to/spoken to by a medical professional. I was then told I was having a panic attack (I’m not surprised after waiting that long struggling to breathe) and that I should calm down and they couldn’t see anything else wrong with me. I have had asthma since birth, therefore am well aware of when something was not right. I was then told unless I wanted to go and wait in A&E for another 4-6 hours, I should go home. After struggling all night I saw my doctor who said that I had a really bad chest infection and prescribed antibiotics and steroids, even my doctor was appalled at how badly I was treated.

Suggested improvements
Actually triage people rather than relying on a computer system that only asks you 4 questions
