Appointment was at half 4. Was told numerous times that I would be seen momentarily. A&E patients being pushed into urgent care due to an over load of patients. If I ever need urgent care again it will not be from Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Suggested improvements
More staff, better wait times. More compassion. We understand the NHS is under a magnitude of stress at the moment but this is ridiculous.

I attended my local A&E on Bank Holiday Monday due to severe pain under my left rib. Following triage I was told to attend the urgent treatment centre where I saw an "Emergency Department Doctor" called "Alice" who we later found out was actually called April, despite introducing herself to us as Alice for some unknown reason. I explained what I was experiencing and was told not to worry as I "have no organs in the left hand side of my abdomen". I said I was a Nurse myself and I'm pretty sure the tail of my pancreas and my spleen are among the organs in my left upper quadrant to which the "doctor" laughed and said to me "I can't believe you're a nurse and you thought the pancreas is on the left hand side when it is actually on the right". I was told I probably had food poisoning?! Despite not having any symptoms that indicated food poisoning. I was then told to go home and contact my GP if I didn't feel any better as "this isn't a medical emergency". I then left with my husband and upon leaving the hospital became very upset and my husband agreed we needed to go back in and get a second opinion. I returned to the Urgent care centre and requested to see an alternative practitioner. I was told no one would see me and I would have to go back through A&E. I refused and asked the receptionist to call the shift manager which she did. I was told to sit and wait. After a short amount of time the same "doctor" came out and asked me in the waiting room what the problem was. I asked if we could talk in a side room. My husband and I expressed our concerns and asked if we could see someone else for a second opinion as we couldn't understand why she had said I have no organs on the left hand side of my body. The "doctor" said we were wrong and all the Google images of the human anatomy were wrong?! That they "weren't real life". We then got told she couldn't access my records now as I had left and she couldn't go back onto them to get anyone to see me. She said she would print off my consultation and take me back to A&E to help speed up me being seen by another doctor. She then handed my paperwork to the triage nurse, began whispering in her ear. And laughing with the nurse. I was then told to go sit and wait but I wouldn't be seen quicker. I then asked the nurse for my records and said I would leave and seek advice from a private practitioner. I then attended a private clinic and was told I had infact got acute pancreatitis.

Everything could have been better from beginning to end the care I received was unacceptable.

Appointment was made for 20:30. Not seen until after 23:00. What’s the point of having an appointment. Other patients were saying the same.

Suggested improvements
If you have an appointment system you shouldn’t have to wait over 2 1/2hrs. Tell people the correct appointment time.

I came to A&E as I was in chronic severe pain in my jaw after a tooth extraction. It was leaking fluid into my mouth which was signs that it was infected and needed care. After spending 2 hours on the phone to 111 and going from being 62 in the queue to number 47 I decided to go to A&E as I couldn’t deal with the pain anymore. I got there and checked in on the screens advising that it was dental related pain, it told me to go to the UTC so I did. I then waited for 2 hours to be seen by what only can be described as the most rudest doctor I have ever encountered in my life for her to say to me “I don’t know what you are doing here I can’t treat you it’s a dental issue” I advised that I needed pain relief and antibiotics as there was an infection. She then said again that there was nothing that she could do for me and I needed to ring 111. I advised that I had tried this and told her of the long wait situation and that there are no 24 hour emergency dental surgery open she them abruptly and rudely said to me “yes there are I have used this service myself, I know you think I’m trying to fob you off but I’m not, go and ask at reception there’s nothing I can do” so I asked why I have been allowed to wait for 2 hours to be told this and she simply shrugged her shoulders at me and said I don’t know. I then said “I’m going to leave now because the 2 hours I have been waiting in here I could have spent on the phone to 111” and she gestured towards the door. Her attitude was absolutely disgusting, uncaring and rude. I left A&E in floods of tears I was in that much pain started to phone 111 at 10pm and got through at 1am they said that someone would ring me back, they did and left me a voicemail saying to go to A&E where I can receive appropriate antibiotics and pain relief. I phoned 111 back explaining the situation and they got me an emergency dental appointment on the bank holiday Monday so the next day, I was correct there are no 24 hour dental services like I tried to explain to the dr. When I was finally seen by the dentist he was appalled that I had been turned away and not provided with antibiotics as I had been left with an infection for over 48 hours in my jaw which had now tracked up my face and under my eye socket so he gave me the warning signs for sepsis and told me to take my temperature regularly and if anything changes I need to go to hospital urgently as I was at risk of sepsis. He obviously also gave me antibiotics. All I can say is I am beyond disappointed with this service and it has given me very little faith in our nhs system. I received dangerous and disgusting treatment bearing in mind my temperature was 37.4 when I arrived in A&E so already starting to elevate at the signs of infection and I was still turned away. Like I said dangerous and disgusting treatment.
