Review of Didcot Community Hospital Ward
3rd May 2024

Friendly staff. Great food.

Suggested improvements
Need to stock using toilets shower for storage. Very difficult when in a wheelchair. Maybe more beds in ward and use the single bays for storage.

The nurses have been very helpful and nothing is too much trouble, I can’t fault the nursing care at all. I have enjoyed the food, when I went for O/P I expected sandwiches on my return but a hot meal was waiting for me.

Suggested improvements
Nothing at all.

The care is unbelievable at this hospital, the nurses work so hard all day and everyday, I would also like to say the care and understanding from the doctors have been first class. Everyone is so welcoming always happy to chat with me. I have really enjoyed being in a bay with the other patients my bed was by the window with a lovey view. The domestic work really hard the ward is so clean. The food is really lovely I have special diet needs but nothing was too much trouble, the jacket potato’s and custard have been my favourite. I want to thank everyone who is concerned at the hospital, I would recommend this hospital to everyone. i was in the JR when it was time for me to be discharged, I knew in was being discharged into Didcot I was so happy. The biggest thankyou to everyone, I’m going to miss everyone.

Absolutely nothing at all.

I cannot thank or praise the staff here enough! I spent the toughest 3 months of my life here and survived it and started to improve due to the kindness, respect, humanity, professionalism l, humour of my carers here . All of you were wonderful and many of you went above and beyond to help despite being understaffed. Everyone from housekeeping to HCAs, nurses, doctors and physio team - you are very special people- I will never forget how much you helped me - thank you, thank you!! I saw the best of the NHS here!

Having the paper everyday to read. Some of the staff are really nice.

Suggested improvements
Being given more choice of bedtime and being woken up early every morning. Some of the staff are not very empathetic and could learn to have a better understanding with working with the elderly

The nurses have shown me care and compassion which I think is the most important quality in a nurse. I’ve been lucky enough to have a single room with a television. The hospital is very clean just like a new pin.

Suggested improvements
The ward is far too noisy especially over the night shift, the nurses seem to forget that the patients are trying to sleep. Also the food isn’t very good I’m have a special diet to follow so I have found that the choice was very limited.
