Review of Emergency Care Centre DPOW
3rd June 2021

Obviously had to wait because it was busy but my girls were seen promptly after seeing the triage nurse by a doctor. All was done with professionalism and i Didn't feel judged at all.

Suggested improvements
I do understand that is the job of the receptionists and front desk people to sieve patients because some can benefit from a GP's appointment. What I don't like is the judging attitude. My two girls suffer from breathing difficulties and i already went to see the GP that day and was told to seek help if i felt they were struggling. That's all i did. Nevertheless everyone was polite and my girls were seen promptly.

The nurses where amazing especially the nurse with the surgeon I saw. Sadly I found ‘Caesar’ the. Surgeon that saw me not to be personable towards me, quite miserable and sat with his back to me whilst writing notes. The nurse looked embarrassed with his communication manner. I was speaking and trying to inform him of my relevant health history but I found it a bizarre bad experience at time but fully understand the pressures at the current time. I was previously offered knee replacement surgery 4 years ago but now I too young!? And even though my arthritis is far worse!

Suggested improvements
Checking in at A&E was also robotic and totally unfriendly. I understand there are perhaps a number of people attending without a good enough reason but I was told a triage nurse would see me but no one did. I waited over 1 and half hours before being moving to another wasting area. It was over 2 hours before I saw anyone. (What I found strange was the waiting time given how quite it was yesterday morning. Despite this I have at the hospital 3 hours 10 minute.)

Overall everything was satisfactory

Suggested improvements
Provide some seating whilst waiting to get to a&e desk , as I was not the on one struggling to stand while waiting to be called , even people sitting on the floor in the corridor , you could put seats 2 metres apart , bearing in mind the sick and elderly and people carrying young children , you can not blame covid as there was plenty of seats for people to sit down in the fracture clinic , so none in the corridor / entrance to A&E !!!!!!!!!

Good experience but would have felt happier if the booths /chairs were wiped down regularly or there was spray and wipes to fo it yourself? Care was excellent- very busy but nothing was too much trouble

Suggested improvements

I was most impressed as I was seen and treated in just over an hour.

Suggested improvements
The receptionist on A&E was a bit rude, but the nurse took over and was very friendly.

All fine except the waiting area which was filthy and was really shocked at the state of this area especially through covid. Nurse was lovely and helpful. Reception staff considerate. Just felt like I needed a good shower after leaving the waiting pod there was an old sauce wrapping, sick bowl and the floors were just dirty and disgusting to be honest. It felt like sitting in an old dirty bus stop. Nobody cleaning any area anywhere and nothing to clean with myself, nothing to clean the seats down etc. It was shocking. Patients temp taken but mine wasn't and neither was my daughter's. I don't have covid but there was no checking to see if I was ok to enter with my son.

Suggested improvements
Clean the area well. Clean after people have left the area for new people to enter. Take everyone's temp and ask all people if they have had any covid symptoms. Make wipes available and sanitizer available in the waiting area.
