I was waiting over four hours to see a dr when I was struggling to breathe and when I was seen the dr seem uninterested and like they could not be bothered

Suggested improvements
Keep patients updated about their wait maybe have an app where you can see what position you are in

Didn’t get as far as seeing a doctor as the receptionist was quite rude as I was feeling unwell and waiting was long time hours infact. I travelled all the way from Alford by car to save an ambulance but had chest and back pain and arm pain then started shaking .so once told I will be over 4 hours wait I couldn’t so I went to reception and asked if I went home and called fir an ambulance if I get worse and she shouted at me saying how dare you suggest that there’s 5 hours wait in ambulances and you are standing in front of me talking to me and don’t need an ambulance it made me get upset as I was worried . I also told her my doctor said my gastric bypass could be leaking so I was really worried. Today I’m back at docs asking for a scan and now have more problems with my eyes and breathing. I’m so disappointed and feel she was wrong to raise her voice like she owned me .I would never take advantage of an ambulance and that’s why when my doc said ring 111 I went by car.

Suggested improvements
Make sure the people in reception talk to people with respect like it’s plastered all over the wall that they don’t accept abuse so why should the patient aswell. Also while waiting there was a que outside of around 10 people waiting and only two chairs I for one was on crutches and a young girl was sent to a and e with suspected appendix and was told she had to que with no seat appalling.

No problems. Triaged quickly, polite friendly staff. Seen by doctor who recommended I visit a clinic, which he organised very quickly and I was able to be seen on the same visit.

When you are sitting in A&E waiting area, you hear everyone's name address and date of birth being called out. It occurred to me that An unscrupulous individual could potentially use that info. Under GDPR, the other patients in the waiting area don't have that individuals permission to have that info. Unlikely to be a problem just an observation.

I was in A&E a total of 7 and 1/2 hours. Mid day mid week, so not as if it was a late night or weekend evening. Obviously not enough staff. I was suffering with a pelvic injury so it was exceedingly painful to sit around for that length of time. Not the staffs fault but it is all to do with staffing issues

Suggested improvements
More staff need hiring

It was shocking, a full hour waiting outside in the rain just to enter a n e, not one person came out to even ask what people were there for so you could of been seriously ill and still stood outside. The receptionist haven’t got a clue about health problems so don’t prioritise conditions which in itself will lead to serious consequences when someone is very ill. 7 and half hours waiting was disgusting too. I hated every second of going, it’s shocking !!

Suggested improvements
Firstly if people are forced to wait to get in to the department, provide seating and shelter and maybe drinks facility.. also I’d have a member of staff asking people what they have been sent for, so those with heart/chest pains can be seen quicker than them with a splinter. Receptionist need to ask a doctor/nurse if they don’t understand what you are there for so they know who needs assessing quickly. Nobody minds a wait but they pick and chose who they think needs to wait longer due to lack of knowledge about conditions
