The staff who treated me were kind, maintained dignity and informed me of the plan of care.

I had an issues regarding discharge, I came in via ambulance because I was unable to weightbear properly and in severe pain with a slipped disc, I was given 2 lots of morphine IV and gas and air by paramedics and then in a and e I had diazepam, oramorph, rectal diclofenac. I was seen by a doctor who said I needed an mri but not as an emergency and when I had one eventually it would be reviewed by surgeons to see if I needed surgery on my back. A nurse came in shortly after and said u can go now and walked off. I laid in the bed a few minutes still in pain and unable to move. Another nurse came in and asked how I was getting home, so I rang my dad. The nurse then repeated that I can go and walked off. It took me some time and much effort and pain to get off the bed which was left raised up and then struggled to walk out of the department. An hca saw me and offered to get me a chair, I asked her to leave me outside for my lift coming. I felt this was very poor care on discharge as I had several medications in my system that made me drowsy and lightheaded and was still in severe pain and unable to walk safely. No body seemed to take this into account.

I arrived at 12.30am on instruction from 111 following a fall, 17 weeks pregnant with a swollen hot and painful but not bruised leg. I sat for over 2 hours without seeing anyone even thiugh there were hardly any other people in there. after that time i overheard the reception staff tell someone who had just come in that it was another 5 hours to see the doctor after you had already waited for the triage nurse. I was forced to leave as i have some care of my 1 year old during the day and it appeared I wouldn't even get seen before he was due to get up at 7.30am. I have since been without care as i cannot take my boisterous son into hospital to sit for hours on end. It was extremely quiet and there was a gentleman who was still waiting when i left who had been there since 8pm! I had the same experience when my 1 year old broke his arm, it took 6 hours for him to get treated. I do not have faith in the emergency department to treat or even assess quickly.
