Review of Hospice @ Home written by a carer
29th March 2019

The care was so good in every way and enabled my family and me to ensure my husband was able to stay at home, and not go into hospital, which he really didn't want to do. It would be hard at this point for me to say how it could be improved because the support given was just what we needed at the right time.

hospice at hone provided the best possible care to my father in law enabling to die in his own home. The staff were so compassionate, kind and understanding. The support they gave to us as a family was wonderful, absolutely wonderful team. Thank you for everything. "The patient family."

Having never been in the situation we found our service in, my husband and myself, were looked after extremely well. We were advised right from day one what we were entitled to, care and service. The nurses that came in to give the patient his meds days before he passed were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. As far as our experience went, I wouldn't know how you could improve.

I cannot thank Julie from hospice at home for her timely and dedicated interventions when we found mum at the floor at home. She immediately contacted DNs and made referrals to Age UK and Marie Carey. She arranged cash cah mats/slide sheets and did the referral for CHC funding herself. She was incredibly professional caring and efficient and was always absolutely lovely with mum. I wish I could remember the name of the wonderful hospice at home nurse who visited just before mum died and was incredibly supportive to me and my husband. She contacted Cynthia Spencer herself and collected Daisy let sheets to help us turn mum when she was so frail - she stayed long beyond the end of her shift to help us out!

The carers/nurses were excellent in every way. Gave support to my mother - the patient - myself as family member and also to the HCAs. All very important but particularly with HCAs who unfortunately not as skilled as expected. Towards the end of mother's life they showed extreme understanding. I can't imagine how it might have been without them. Nothing to improve.

Hi there, First of all I would like to say how amazing everyone has been Cynthia Spencer and that I would like to thank each and every person that works here and who is helping my grandad receive such amazing support and care. But two people have really stood out to me since my time here, going above and beyond to help not just my grandad but myself and my family too. These people are Raymond Cordell and Martin (don’t know his surname) They have been truly wonderful. They are two of the most caring, kind and thoughtful people I have come across. Nothing is ever to much trouble and the best thing of all is they always find a way to put a smile on everyone’s faces which at times like this I think is the most important. Also Ray is so supportive to all family members and has been truly amazing and always brightens up the room. He makes your time here not only bareable but sometimes happy as crazy as that sounds. My grandad and myself are truly thankful for everyone’s support and help at Cynthia Spencer it’s is very much appreciate. Tori Simpson

The teacher was good and the exercise was enjoyable and beneficial. I would like to re-inforce what I've learnt by continued practise.

We would like to give a special thank you to Bindu, Emma, Harri, Sarah and Mortyn to name just a few for the care received, not only for the patient but the entire family. Nothing is ever too much trouble, big or small requests are always seen to. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten!! Could the cafe open longer? Please look at overflow parking options?

Response from Cynthia Spencer Hospice

Thank you for your review. It is good to hear about the positive effect of our team. I will discuss with the Catering team regarding the Café opening hours, but this unfortunately remains limited. We are communicating with visitors to the site for training to ensure they park in a facility available to us further down the road
