Review of Adult Speech & Language Therapy - West Essex
22nd July 2022

The speech therapy sessions were extremely helpful, and it was wonderful to have the option of meeting by video call during the pandemic. Gill was kind, patient and encouraging. My vocal health and wellbeing improved greatly during treatment.

Suggested improvements
Everything was very good.

Review of Adult Speech & Language Therapy - West Essex
22nd July 2022

Extremely impressed with the professionalism of the therapists involved in my husband's care. I felt that both he and I were listened to and supported throughout the process and helped towards achieving his specific short-term needs and goals.

Suggested improvements
Too few therapy sessions. Perhaps, given the nature of the therapy, more support for the patient to look to achieve long-term goals. An offer of on-going Community review, if required, and/or re-assessment of the patients needs after 6 months, 1 year, 18 months. More support/resources for family members who want to be actively involved in their loved ones therapy and recovery. Staffing shortages should be addressed to ensure that these critical services can be supported. The staff even had problems finding a suitable venue to hold the group therapy sessions. A suitable room in which to hold the group sessions wasn't available at the hospital.

Review of South East Essex Primary Care Mental Health Team
22nd July 2022

Because I have been given support over the last few months at a time when I needed it. Also I have been put in touch with organisations that I can contact such as Trustlinks.

Suggested improvements
Nothing as far as I am concerned. I felt I was given the opportunity to express myself and ask any questions I had, to which answers were offered. There was no stereotyping and I felt I was treated as an individual.

Review of West Essex Community Pain Management Service
20th July 2022

The pain team have been fantastic. For the first time in 12 years I have felt believed and listened to. Debbie has such a wealth of knowledge and her online sessions are great, I have learned so much. Kasia's medications session was also really helpful, I learned alot about pain medications and it reinforced that I was doing the right thing in reducing and coming off of them, which I have now achieved and feel so much better for. I've had a couple of sessions with Lisa, I really enjoyed the Tai Chi taster session and I'm looking forward to my follow up 1to1. Thank you so much to the whole team, I feel I am finally making progress and getting back control of my life!
