Mr Fevzi Shakir is always down-to-earth and easy to speak to about issues that are personal and require sensitivity. He made me feel relaxed, which is so important when having surgery and the caregivers/nurses (Jeez/JC, Jen and Isaac) who took care of me were all friendly, thoughtful and kind. The hospital was very clean and I was made to feel very welcome on arrival.
Great facility, great surgeon, state of the art ICU, probably best hospital in the UK
I loved watching teamwork in action. Clearly the five months training without patients must have much to do with this. All whom I met, were proud of the hospital and, despite a tube strike at the end of a four day bank holiday/weekend, there appeared to be no problems with absentees.
The Cleveland Art Collection was impressive. However, I gather that even the staff find it confusing as to which of they identical floors they are working on. Perhaps a theme, using the art collection, could be developed differentiating between each floor as the lift doors open. You might be interested in www.sticknobillsonline.com that now owns the exclusive rights to the travel poster archives of British Airways, Braniff, Pan Am, Lufthansa and Iberia Airlines. Each floor could have a destination theme: Europe; The Americas; Asia/Pacific, the MiddleEast/Africa and the Antipodes using limited edition remastered original posters from the 1920s through to the 1960s? I was very comfortable during my stay. I felt safe and well looked after and when I was allowed food again I was treated with delicious and nutritious meals.
I can only recommend it. The team was wonderful, caring and knowledgeable and always friendly and they made me smile.
The EUS biopsy was handled professionally and could not have expected better.
The anesthetist was fantastic and so was Gavin Johnson who is absolutely brilliant.
I felt that I was always at the centre of the medical and nursing care.
