When I attended Chelsfield Park Hospital to have my knee replacement operation, I received an excellent, friendly, professional service. On my first visit I met my consultant Mr Zameer Shah, who’s friendly smile and personality immediately put me at ease as he explained the procedure and the options I had. My follow up visit three months later we reviewed my position, Mr Shah explained the procedure in detail also that this operation would be painful, and following our discussion I decided to go ahead. When I arrived for my operation, I was welcomed at the reception and escorted to my room by a young lady who explained everything I needed to know, how to operate the TV, the phone facility, the times the meals were served, the menu. On the subject of the food, the meals were excellent. During the afternoon I met the anesthetist who was kind and made the point that he would be there for me all the time during my operation. I felt quite relaxed and safe, but this reassurance made me feel even better. After my operation I returned to my room to enjoy my evening meal, roast chicken and all the vegetables – it was just like Christmas! My nurse introduced herself and told me she would be looking after me overnight, which she did, a kind caring girl. My full English breakfast was served the following morning, really impressive, I took a photo of it on my phone and sent it to my friends. I met my physio, an enthusiastic young lady who gave me instructions on how to use the walking sticks to navigate along the hallway and up and down the stairs. Prior to leaving I enjoyed a Jerk salmon meal, delicious! Another photo. As I left, I thanked everyone for their kindness and friendly hospitality and returned home. The following morning, I received a telephone call checking that I was okay and if I had any questions regarding my recovery at home and I was told, if I think of anything, I can call the Ward. I received another telephone call the following morning checking that I was okay. I returned on Thursday 10th November for a Physio update with another enthusiastic young lady and Friday 11th to meet a nurse who checked my wound, which was healing nicely. I came back on Monday 14th November for an appointment with Mr Shah, when I had the opportunity to thank him personally. I thank all the Chelsfield Park Hospital Team for looking after me, I had a most enjoyable stay.
