I have lived in Kendal 9 years, I am under Dr [name removed], whenever i have had to see a doctor in all that time I have never managed to see Dr [name removed]. Furthermore, having had a consultation with TIA clinic at Lancaster Hospital, who then sent a follow up letter to my GP, I have not been contacted by the surgery regarding my condition at all, I am the one having to do the chasing. I also have recent abdominal problems, but again earliest appoitment i can get in 19th July - 2 and half months after the first symptoms. We can only book appoitments on the phone, I walked in the Maude Street surgery yesterday, but I was told I had to call 08:00 in the morning to see what appointments are available. Why the receptionist in the surgery could not do this I don't know. I was told I could book a 'routine' appoitment, but one was not available until July 5th. When I did phone, three times I was cut off, once whilst talking to the receptionist, Whenever I have been to the surgery the waiting room always appears empty. So I do not know where all the people seeing doctors are. All we want is to see a GP (preferably the one we are assigned to) when we are ill, not weeks into the future, when the symptoms might be gone, or, worse still, gotten worse. I have two sets of problems that should set NHS GP alarm bells ringing regards diagnosis. That's what we are told in all the media blerb. But trying to get an appointment to see a GP about these issues is extremely difficult, almost impossible. I sometimes think the governent and NHS would rather we die of our illnesses to save them the bother.

Suggested improvements
Allow people to book appointments by just walking into the surgery. Be more pro-active in contacting patients for follow up, especially when they have been to hospital clinics and received letters from those clinics. More continuity in care and GP/patient relatioship.
